i've been redeeming all my credit card points for gift cards, so expect a lot of posts of this nature!

anyway, i had some target gift cards, and this dress was lurking on the sale rack. i have a few pieces patterned with teeny polka dots, but i was craving something a little bolder, and this appeared. huzzah!

the only thing is, i'm now wondering if the print is too large for me? and also if it's too long -- just because my sweet spot is usually just about at the knee. does it look like i'm drowning? should i have it shortened? the outfit looks a little boring, but i just tossed on that cardi to break up the dottiness, and those shoes were another target gift card buy -- just because i needed basic black pumps!

any feedback is appreciated... thanks!

oh no, maya, i don't see it online anywhere! i actually found the polka dot version and a lemon yellow version at first, but they were BOTH in size 8! i'll admit, even though it was big on me i was so in love with the dress i almost bought it...except i took one last look at the sale rack and found it in a 4! thanked my lucky stars, grabbed it, and it was mine for all of $19.99.

so.... RUN, DO NOT WALK to the nearest target and scour the sales rack? :\

ps - thanks for all the good feedback! it's my experience that dresses that hit inches below my knees can look like they overwhelm me, but if this one doesn't, then phew!

I just want to add one more vote for keeping the dress and the length. It totally doesn't overwhelm you.

Hanna, I think we are about the same height/size/build, and I feel the same way about below-the-knee dresses, but I like a-line skirts to be a bit longer than pencil skirts because having lots of volume at a short length is very young--and by young I mean childlike. The retro vibe and the fact that you are wearing heels also makes the length seem right.

It's not on sale online grr.

maya, i'd be careful though, it's pretty small in the chest area, even for an itty bitty titty committee member such as myself... yes, i just typed that. i feel about 10.

I figured that would be an issue, but hopefully my itty bitty ribcage will offset my mammoth bosoms...

Edit: I just read the reviews. It doesn't sound like there is much hope for me

tam -- i would love to take it dancing! i was a dancer for years, but the bf is very firmly in the "can't dance, won't dance" camp, so i guess it's time to flex my powers of persuasion ;).
