One of my first EF items ever was a black, 3/4 sleeve scoop neck tunic. It has just the right amount of structure at the shoulder and sleeve coupled with the signature flowy EF style bottom. Find 1 below is this style. It has a straight hem across the bottom. Hands down my favorite tunic.
I wanted to duplicate this but the only EF tunic available at the time was Find 2. There are slight differences:
- One, I think the scoop may not be as deep, offering less visible skin and (I think) less structure in the top.
- Long sleeves vs 3/4 is a difference (but I almost always scrunch so this is not an issue).
- The biggest difference to me is the hem type and length.
The 2 most recent tunics I got (Find 2) are a little longer on me than the original (Find 1), and have a shirt-tail, high-low hem. In my mind, they are hitting me a little long and throwing off my proportions. I'm 5ft 5in and I feel like they're kind of swallowing me up, especially since I always wear them with flats and that won't be changing. They look more like a dress than a tunic top.
Do you think it is gasp-worthy to shorten these EF items?
Could I also cut off the sleeves to hit where the original ones hit?
Or am I crazy thinking to modify EF?
It's not stopping me from wearing them, I just don't feel as fab in the 2 newer ones as I do the original, sadly.
Input greatly appreciated.
ETA: looking at the model pics, I DO now think sleeve length is playing into the overall feeling more than I thought. So shortening the sleeves IS on the table now.
