Today I was going to run errands down on the coast and was feeling rather satisfied with my tweed jacket, brown sweater, brown croc belt (former 3 from Mango, and very well priced), Citizens white jeans and creamy-beige Pikolinos high tops. And then I realized it was a holiday here in Spain. So I figured I might as well take a quick photo so that someone would see the outfit.

This is the first autumn I’ve experienced in many years where I didn’t have to move into dressing for freezing weather right in October as I have had to in New England. It’s been a nice change not to have to worry about whether things like blazers and light jackets will be too bulky under a coat.

In Spain I mostly live in a non-trendy small village. But I have been able to check out what women are wearing in places like Madrid, Marbella, Seville and Vienna. Of course it’s a mixed bag (Austrians sure lean into their black) but I think the items I see most commonly are this sort of oversized tweed blazer, leather jackets, dark miniskirts, and tights with chunky boots. Rather 90s in effect with the blacks and browns. Sometimes I see the little 20-somethings working the all over baggy looks, but it’s not that common.
