Thanks for the suggestions! I will peruse. And Ledonna, if only you were here to take me shopping!!
Am I sure I don't have anything interesting? Well, no. I should tally up for real, not just in my imagination, but I had a creepy Baby Jane love of puffed sleeves and bows and ruffles. Sickly sweet and little girl. And then I had also Put A Bird On It - bedazzling for the untalented and unglam and terminally cute. I purged myself of these items, which no longer befit my new sense of dignity or refinement or neighborhood, for that matter. (Probably it's all driven by the new neighborhood. I have left Hipsterville for Establishment Bohemia. Lot of Julia Morgan houses and peeps between appointments in D.C. around here. It makes furniture upcycled from pallets look, well, just stupid. I've noticed. Some people have tried to put in horizontal plank fences and it looks very wrong, whereas it looked great in Hipsville.)
What I'm left with is a lot of plain woven clothing with flat scoop necklines. At least it feels that way. I've relied a lot on pattern and colour, not much on architecture or texture.
As for what arty is - around here it involves tie-dye synthetics bunched into rosettes. Lots of rosettes...
Love that dress, Firecracker. Maybe I should start working myself up for trip into downtown...I think there might be a COS...
