I'm so sad...the Dinner and Dance that I bought the party outfit for (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....osition-20) has been canceled due to budgetary restraints. So now I have this outfit...I don't attend a lot of dressy affairs and am wondering whether I should keep it or not. Both the dress and the clutch still have the price tags attached and I have the receipts. I'm not sure they are items I will wear "at some point" or not...so here's my question:

1. Do I keep the outfit so that if something dressy DOES come up, I have something to wear and don't have to look for something?

2. Do I return the dress and clutch (I'm keeping those gorgeous shoes) and instead buy the Miz Mooz boots I've been eyeing and would probably get more use out of?

But I agree with Angie, all items are fabulous and they might come in handy for different occasions in the future. And absolutely, organize your own little party and wear your outfit asap!

Sorry to be a party pooper but as the owner of too many dresses without enough occasions I say go for the boots.

Yeah, on rethinking after posting, I was going to say that this is a tough call. But I really do love this outfit (and it's not usually the type of thing I go for. For what it's worth!)

That's disappointing, Shannon. But I think you should keep the outfit. It's always good to be prepared for a dressy occasion. I'm sure one will turn up soon....and you'll be good to go!

this is tricky... I can argue both sides of the coin. I"d definitely keep the red clutch. You worked too hard to find that baby. You'll kick yourself if you return it and then find yourself needing a red clutch in the future.
The dress is tricky... while it's gorgeous, it's not all that difficult to find a dressy dress if the occasion arises in the future. Even if a dressy affair does present itself, you might find yourself thinking this particular dress isn't quite right for the occasion. IDK.... tough call.

Tough call, indeed! I agree with the Queen It's easier to find a dress, and you will get a lot of use from the boots...hopefully you can work the red clutch into several outfits!

Thanks for your responses every one (even Una...who is encouraging me to spend...ha ha ha...)

I came home from work, went straight to my closet and changed into the dress with the shoes and clutch and jewellery and decided I really REALLY love this outfit...so, it's staying with me. Although QM is right in that finding a dressy dress isn't all that difficult (nowhere near as tough as finding the perfect jeans!), something happened to me when I put this dress on for the first time. I felt amazing in it...and I don't feel that way too often...so I figure that in and of itself, is worth keeping the dress. So I'm going to put the whole look together on the weekend, have hubby snap a picture and post it anyway.

P.S. I'm probably gonna get the boots too (ssshhhhh...don't tell my hubby that's what he's getting me for Christmas!)

Yes, if the outfit makes you feel that good, you can find reasons to wear it.
