Alexander Wang shorts arrived! ...but going back :( ETA- new ones in!

My order arrived, and I was so excited to get these shorts. But they were SO big! I ordered a size 4 and I know when I was ordering them I would have preferred to order the 2, but it was out of stock. But I figured I generally prefer a little looseness and the measurements seemed ok. Got them today, and the pictures below don't really show it that well, but they are pretty much a hula hoop around me. They have a size 0 in stock, and the waist measurement is about .25" bigger than a pair I own and like the fit of, so do you think I should try to exchange for those? How do they look? I don't think they salvageable, they look way too big, or is it just me? I'm so disappointed. When I lay them flat on my other shorts the waist is about 1.75" larger (x2 for the back) then my other shorts.

The first 2 pics are just the shorts...they are possibly the most well made garment I've ever seen. I know you can't really tell from a photo, but in person they just feel crazy!

I agree, they look too big - what a shame, because they look so stylish and well-made. I would try exchanging them for the size 0 and hope for the best. I don't think I would try having them altered, as it would throw off the proportions of the front detailing.

so sad for you Rae! They are too big. (incredible waist line btw) What is the measurement difference between the 0 and the 4? The 0 may work out.

I can't tell what the measurement for the 4 is right now because it's showing out of stock because I have it...so it just shows an x. From what I remember it was .5" for each size, so it should be a 1" difference across the waist (lying flat).

Karie you're right, there is no way they could be altered. They seem very intricate. It was my first hope though!

Aw, they are so cute though! :T You could opt to wear them this big, sagged down around the hips, for a kind of boyfriend fit. But it sounds like that is not the fit you are after... They are a truly unique item - if it is love it doesn't hurt to try the 0.

I checked the site...it says the model measures 24"waist and 35" hips, and is wearing a 0. I measured myself and I am 24" waist, 36" hips....so I have an inch on the hips. I think I'm gonna try the 0. They are just too expensive to have them too big. As they are in the pics, they are pulled down far, so the crotch is really low. I think they're meant to sit higher, but of course they droop down cause the waist is really big on me. I don't know if my extra inch will fit them or not, but I'm gonna send them back and exchange....and if not, I guess they weren't meant to be

Thank you Susie. I think it's genetic, my mom was quite small too. I can't complain, although there's such a difference between hip and waist I always get the big gap at the back of my pants, which is annoying. But there are worse things, so no complaints!

Definitely going to swap, I already mailed it back tonight, and I just ordered the 0. So I should know by next week.

Holy cow those are gorgeous! They look big enough that two sizes down ought to fit nicely! So I vote "try the 0 ASAP!"

AWWWW They do appear very well made. That could help you -- because you could have them taken in by a very good tailor. You do have to decide how you want them to fit (slim or kind of androgynous and roomy). I would it hate if you sent them back and there were NONE left. Let us know what you decide. (Deep sigh...)

Alexander Wang sizing is incredibly inconsistent. I have a sweater by him that's a size small and still quite voluminous. I have a suede jacket, size large and fits fine.

Day, if I thought they could be altered I would try, but the pocket sort of wraps around the side, and it's hard to see but the front has a sort of micro mesh overlay. They are too intricate. I think the only possibility would be to take them in the back seam, the bum crack seam, but then the pocket flaps would be right on top of each other. Nope, my only hope is the 0. Apparently they have shipped already! I expect them mid next week.

Anna that's good to know for future reference. I hate that different brands ad not consistent between sizes, but man they should be within their own brand!

Fingers (and toes) crossed that the 0 works...

Hmm I would guess based on how much larger this is, the 2 will be the perfect size (don't want 'em too tight!). I hope the 0 works out though, they're very cool shorts!

Some people would kill for your waist to hip ratio! Or at least get a rib removed, LOL.

If the 0 pulls across the hips you can have a tailor stitch the pockets closed. Or you can do it yourself. I don't think this would mess with the garment too much.

Possibly the most fab pair of shorts I have ever seen! Definitely too big. I really do hope you can get your size:)

Coco, never thought of that...hopefully they fit, but maybe at will work if they are just a tad too small.

The size 0 came in today...I've tried them on but haven't had a chance to take any pics. I will try to post them tomorrow. I think they are much better!

Sorry I haven't posted a shot of the new ones yet. I think they fit great! I have just been lazy and tired the past 2 days. I will get it up soon though!
