I never found one last year...this year I'm determined! I know you've mentioned both of these. Garnet Hill (no Finds):

And the Halogen one below. I like the lack of ribbing on the Halogen one, but the Garnet Hill one has a nice purple. I'm only going to start with one...which one?! The only things I know I want: no pom-pom, soft and loose. Thanks!

A favorite obsession of mine! The Garnet Hill ones are fab, but I have an older design. I find the Halogen too narrow - I prefer a wider brim and a floppy crown. Yes, i tried it on.

And the last one you posted looks too skullcap for me. I have never thought about my head size, only my face shape and haircut!

I have a large head; I usually have to buy a men's size large hat, unless it's really, really stretchy. I looked through men's beanies on Zappos and Nordstroms last year. I ended up buying a men's dip dye beanie from Vince. It fits, it has slouch, and it has a dark navy bottom that fades to a dark turquoise.

Consider the fabric, too. The one Una linked to last is acrylic. This makes my hair electrify with static. Might depend on your climate. I go for wool or cashmere or either blended with cotton if I can.

Una that is interesting re skullcap. I think that's the style I wear. The floppy ones always seem to creep off my head somehow. Their own weight pulls them down. Hmmm. How do they stay on you guys?

Suz, the acrylic one is actually amazingly soft and non-staticky in my truly dry climate. It feels like a soft wool.

I don't have the issue you do but if the brim isn't fitted, the hat will slide down over my eyes. So I need a more fitted brim that holds its place and a slouchy crown.
