I’ve been using ChatGPT for some travel planning and started to wonder if anyone is using it for anything fashion-related? I can think of several uses such as generating outfit ideas, packing for a trip, or possibly shopping for a specific item of clothing.

How do you use it? Tbh, Bing keeps offering and I don’t see how it would be that different from a regular search.

One example: I provide the basic parameters for an upcoming trip and the types of things we enjoy, and within a second it provides a detailed day by day itinerary with detailed recommendations for restaurants, accommodations and activities.

So, then, I guess you could ask it to suggest what to wear for each of those days/activities?

I will admit that I'm skeptical that I would find chatgpt for fashion very satisfying. That's because I think of style as a creative outlet, and chatgpt is not creative.

I sometimes play with AI just to see what it can do. But I agree with Sarah above regarding style as a creative outlet. It is not very good with images or identifying vintage at this stage anyhow as far as I can tell.

You can do command on the chat gpt and get the result as per your command. You will get your desirable result by chat gpt through best command

I have not tried it and, for the time being, I don’t think I will. A few comments/questions, poorly elaborated, but hope you forgive me:

- For me part of the pleasure is thinking, finding, planning… both for trips and for outfits. Want to keep this, no need to have an answer in seconds, at least not in this part of my life.
- I have this belief that outsourcing makes you dumber… as in before we would easily remember all the important phone numbers and now we don’t because we outsourced this to smartphones.
- Using algorithms probably kills the possibility of the happy accident as they call it… you know this blouse you buy because of the print but you are not sure… and then it turns out to open a new direction in your style… I think we may loose this with algorithms.
- Related to this: will we all become more uniform, more standardised? Will all shops in all cities be the same? Are we already halfway there?
- Is AI copying from outfit bloggers/ personal consultants/others that have shared their knowledge on the internet?

In case it helps clarify anything, I was not thinking about AI as a way to usurp or disrupt one’s creativity, but instead whether the technology might be used to help solve fashion-related challenges or streamline any aspect of one’s warbrobe management, planning, shopping, idea generation, research, etc., and whether anyone on the forum had tried it in that regard. As I mentioned, I’ve used it for other purposes and have found it to be a useful tool.

Would be fun experimenting with AI in this context. Who knows, it might mention some items that get your creative juices flowing. Of course, YLF was a pioneer in this area, with the Random Outfit Generator

This is SUCH a great question. And yet I still have not tried AI. I think my mind gets overwhelmed when new technology comes out.

I remember a year or two ago, when this was becoming popularized, and somebody let AI make a movie, which they posted in the NYT and the newspaper called it like, "breathtakingly beautiful," like it was for Cannes. But then I watched the first half, and it was just people staring out a train window, or at a wall, with a voiceover saying things like: "regrets. When did I lose her? I wish I could start again. How can I ever be happy again?" Like the worst student film. I don't know why people liked it.

So I think on the one hand, I'm not that curious, and on the other hand, it would open up some rabbit hole of content.

AI seems like it would be a good solution if one had to pack for a last minute business trip or family emergency since it could make suggestions without panic and emotions.

I got to see ChatGPT in action when DD used it to help her write an AirBnB complaint. The first letter was too long so she asked it to edit it down. Then she got it to sound less robotic, lol.
