It's that time of year again when the retailers tempt us with the after-Christmas sales...
I'm thinking of whether or not to buy this fabulous pair of boots. They're everything I've been looking for: tan color, real leather, comfort, perfect heel height, and under $100.
However, I don't need to use them right away and may keep them in my closet for a year before pulling them out. I like to force myself to get as much wear as possible out of my items and I know that a new item has a way of dethroning the old one very quickly.
I've done this before, buying ahead of time. Sometimes it's a great idea, but other times my style preferences and needs have meanwhile evolved, and so the item I bought a year ago is no longer going to work for me. A waste of money. However, I might splurge this time because these boots are classic and I can't imagine myself not wearing them at all. Also, it hasn't been easy to find a pair like this with the perfect heel height. Sometimes you have to buy things when they come your way and not when you want them to come to you...
Do any of you buy things "ahead of time"? Does it work out for you?
