Advice on shoes to wear with dressy jumpsuit for holiday party

I've just bought this jumpsuit to wear at our semi-formal holiday party. http://www.phase-eight.com/fcp...../204123050

I am 43 and typically like to wear support/compression socks at events where I will be standing a lot (due to damaged valves) but that dictates shoes and trouser length!

What shoes should I wear with this jumpsuit that isn't a high, strappy heel?

I was thinking of slouchy suede wedge heel boots, but interested in other opinions as well. I have some 'support leggings' that I could wear underneath that would allow a sockless look!

If the event is truly semi- formal I think you’d want to push the jumpsuit( which looks fab, bye) to its most dressy mode. The suede boots would make it more casual. Could you wear a very dressy flat, something sparkly or embellished, or metallic , along with jewelry and dressy bag? Leaving ankle “ nude” ( I wear nude hose) makes it more dressy, I think.
Dressy flats are actually not always the most comfortable but I can sometimes get away with that due to low heel. I don’t do heels well, either nor strappy.
An ankle strap flat might work too, depending on length pants are hemmed.

patent leather booties! i would probably look for a pair that closes the gap so that the pants and the shaft of the boot over lap.....here's some examples...

I have a metallic boot that I like to wear for more dressy occasions. I also like the suggestion of patent leather boots. Leopard may be fun too - this is such a versatile jump suit - almost anything would co-ordinate with it, it just depends upon how formal the event will be.

The other thing I think about is I may have to compromise on footwear for comfort, so then I aim for it to be more in the background, and put the focus on top, necklace, face. That doesn’t mean “ ugly shoes” but it might mean I stay monochromatic or simple.

Thanks everyone! It's a "wear what you want" event as long as it's not trainers That's why I'm leaning towards a shoe I'll actually wear again
I also have some brown suede Mary Jane heels but I just don't think they go well with the outfit.

I like the black patent idea too. My feet are narrow so def helpful to use socks to get the right fit! Narrow dressy shoes are hard to find in England.

The bling black patent boots get my vote for style. But I often have to compromise style for comfort so I know where you are coming from.

If the dress code is pretty forgiving ( and of course, in the grand universe, it doesn’t matter anyway), then I’d definitely get something that’s more of a wardrobe essential for you, even a plain black if you wouldn’t wear patent or anything dressy very often, and do some dressy accessories.

Thanks all! Great examples. I tried a lot of shoes on yesterday and didn't have any luck, apart from confirming that Clarks do the best shoes for me feet (in the UK, where I live)

PS Here's a photo of me in the jumpsuit. It's super flattering. The pant legs are longer than the models.
