Which to wear with this and other maxi dresses? Boot, shoe or sandal? I'm 160cm. Thanks ladies

With this midi dress I think you could wear
- ankle or tall boots
- sandals - flat or heeled
- sneakers (white, non athletic)

I couldn't see loafers with this dress nor athletic sneakers.

I think both sandals shown work fine with the dress. Just comes down to preference.

Slight preference to the more substantial sandal ( or boots - depending on the place ).

I think all of these shoes work! With boots I’d wear in early spring and style the dress with a denim jacket. Then as it warms up I would transition to the sandal heels and flat sandals.

They might all be right, depending on the weather. Agreeing that a jacket or cardigan would balance the boots.

Well it depends on the weather but I like the look of the more chunky sandal in the first picture.

I like both sandal options. I am not a fan of boots with summer fabrics, and I think the dress is light weight.

Hi Veruca from a Kiwi! Thanks so much for filling in your profile, it always helps. Personally I prefer the look of the more substantial heeled sandals here as giving a bit more “heft” with the long dress. However so many people these days do wear flats even with quite long dresses like this. I am a bit behind the times in my personal preference. I do also love to wear flats.

I like the lace-up sandals with the dress. Hard to see what the boots are like.

I've seen fashion shots with "prairie" style dresses similar to yours - they style them with lace-up boots. It's a fun look. And sometimes I've seen the frilly/floaty dresses with stompy, thick soled boots as a contrast.

Thanks everyone! I'll probably go with the chunkier lace up sandal for this occasion. I am 63 and always wonder if I am tipping into the "mutton dressed as lamb" period of life. I love fashion always have so am loving the whole maxi dress revival as it can be dressed up or down and they are so comfy. I can't wear jeans anymore due to tummy issues but still like to feel a little "on trend".

I like the chunkier sandals most from those 3. With boots, I prefer them taller with maxis, so the dress covers the top of the boot. The thinner sandals seem too thin somehow for the weight of the dress to me.
I wear mine with mules too for transitional weather.

I agree with Gillian. All of these work, depending on weather and mood. I know women who wear boots with dresses in summer and rock the boho fab look — too hot and a little too boho for me, but if it works for you, I think it’s great to have multiple options to change up the vibe of the dress!

I would also add that full length photos help when evaluating shoe choices. I would probably style each of these differently. For example, the boot version would be great bookended with something black and with a bit more visual weight on the top half of the outfit — a moto jacket or even a hat or bold dark earrings or cuff bracelet for example. Meanwhile the delicate sandals work with a lighter touch overall on accessories. It’s all about visual balance in the overall effect, IMHO.

I like all options, but faves are both pairs of sandals. I also like the more substantial sandal a little more.
