Advice on dress length please

I am 160cm or 5'2". I need to get this dress hemmed. Ideally, I would like to wear sandals but it is a wedding guest dress so feel like it needs a heel. I can only wear a small heel or a platform shoe all one level as I gave flat feet. I feel because I am short it will look better if I get it hemmed at ankle length rather than floor length due to my apple shaped body. Thoughts please?

I am the same height as you and on myself I prefer to see a little ankle. It seems more flattering to me and not like the dress is just too long. Looks nice on you!

Aww thanks Robin. I think ankle length looks better too with just a bit of shoe showing but like to hear other's advice.

Showing a little ankle and more of the foot/shoe is good. May I suggest a sandal?

Thanks Angie. I would love to wear a sandal but not sure as the dress is quite formal. I have some kitten heel tie ups in metallic tones??

I actually don't want to see ankle with this dress, but I do want to see some foot! The front half of your foot in its elegant sandals should be visible.

I'm with Lesley. I am short (5'2"), and I find that the most flattering length for long dresses/skirts on me is right above the ground, but not above the ankle. When skirts end right above the ankle, I look dumpy. Basically, I like the skirt as long as it can be without my tripping on it. That usually means the hem hits right at the vamp of my shoe.

Check the Nina brand dressy shoes. Nordstrom has lots of styles, sandals and pumps with various heel heights and foot coverage.

I’d personally prefer to see a long dress as long (almost floor length) or midi (tea) length, not ankle length, as that makes me feel it’s a long dress hemmed up too short.

Yes, ankle and small block heels like Angie showed. I think they look dressier than wedges or platforms.

The gladiator sandals read quite casual to me, especially if the dress is shorter.

Try those with the dress after it's been hemmed, and assess if you can get away with it. They might work!

Don't see any heels on the gladiators and they look too casual (and skimpy) to my eyes, too. The dress is quite formal(&beautiful!!!) so really needs somehow a dressier sandal. Would like to see the end result as for learning about the right length and perfect shoe choice for my own self, too! Thank you for posting!:-)

Mmm ... back to the drawing board. Thanks ladies for your input. I have a black court shoe might go with that, lower heel but dressier.
