Nuancedream, the Barbie monologue was about the impossible and always conflicting standards placed on women, so I think your frustration is right on target. Sorry you are having difficult times.
Irina, yes! I recently read one in an incredibly long line of blurbs about some actress, praising her "natural beauty" for coming to her interview with no makeup. (And then of course, they put makeup on her for the photo shoot). Lisa Eldridge made a whole video on that attitude in the Victorian Era...they believed that outer beauty meant you were a good person, but also believed that trying to look beautiful was sinful. Women had some little hacks they could use, but you were so screwed if the hack was in any way detectable. Rock, meet hard place.
And yet...here we still are!!! Which leads to another line for the Barbie rant: Look your best, but never look like you tried too hard. Wow, I hate that phrase!!
