Denise, have you seen these? Almost the spitting image of the Acnes for a much lower price. Have no idea about quality or comfort though...

ETA: Added it as a Find. Couldn't do that on my phone.

Thank you Janet! I was just boxing up the Acnes to return. These look like an almost exact knock off, and are priced at more of a fashion risk taking level.

Oh yay! I'm so glad I started poking around looking at the green Acnes, because those just showed up in the Nordstrom site under the "people who looked at that item also shopped for this item" section! Crossing fingers those work for you, because I really love how that style looks on you.

Wow, those do look like a good option!

Janet -- I just ordered them in a 6.5 and 7 to compare sizes, and I paid for rush shipping because I just can't wait (actually holding on to the Acnes a few more days before the 30 day Shopbop return window expires). So I can do a side-by-side comparison in a few days. I will post a review.

There are a few more options I'm considering --
-the darker leather Jensens from Mytheresa.com
-the Door from LD Tuttle

Those are nice too. I've never shopped on mytheresa before, but now I'm lusting after those leather Acnes, and the Isabel Marant Danae's. The Marant Patshas look a lot like the Acnes too.

Without first peeking at other comments, I vote Aquitalias hands down. And on edit, that was an immediate reaction to the color. I didn't even consider the shape.

Those Marc Fisher boots that Janet found look so close ... I'd be tempted to exchange if I didn't love green so much.

I wish those Marc Fisher boots came in green… sigh!

I love those LD Tuttle ones!

I have a pair of camel/nude suede ankle boots that are on to their third winter with no significant marks. Mine have a mid height heel but I wear them frequently. I use a protector spray and avoid wearing on days I know are going to be wet. They have lasted well and will definitely work again next year.

Kiwigal I am excited to hear you have camel suede ankle boots going on three winters! I think the NZ climate is something like California isn't it, not too harsh a winter? You might get more rain. Could you share what spray protector you use? Or if it's a brand that's unavailable in the US, maybe share a picture of its ingredients. Thank you so much!

Or if anyone else has suede spray protector solutions, please share.

The one I have is "Woly" Protector 3x3 at the moment.

I think our temperature range would be similar to you, possibly a little less extreme, but we get more rain where I live. Summer often around 25 degrees C, winter down to 0 degrees sometimes, a few frosts.

I am not a very careful person but I have looked after these boots by spraying them (about) once a month during the season (April-October could be boots season here, and since these are light I wear them a bit more than dark ones in spring and autumn). I also have a small brush that I occasionally use.

Thank you Kiwigal/Sally, I found it on Amazon!

Also a brush from the same company

Another vote for the Acnes! No doubt for me!

I love the ones from LD Tuttle "The Door". Gorgeous. Too pointy for my poor arthritic feet. I will enjoy whatever ones you buy on you.
