If I say it out loud on YLF, I will make myself get it done.

It's been a long time since I consigned anything. Two cities ago, I used to take things to a favorite place where they had tricky rules: they only took anything from you if you had at least ten pieces they wanted. You brought in 25 items and they only liked nine of them? Nope. Ten or more, or zero.

My new local place seems less fussy but I guess we'll see.

How weird! I hope the new consignment store will be better. I have had only a few consignment experiences in the past and they were so disappointing that I decided it is not worth.

I am letting go of some nice pieces, but most of them were purchased during a period of illness when I was quite emaciated.

I will therefore let go these pieces without regret.

what a weird rule. really, how many people even have than many items at a time to consign?
YAY for making an appointment and a passing on the things you don't want or need

Hi April I tried it last year for the first time. Sold only one item of the 8 I took to the fancy vintage place, then the ones I took to “Recycle Boutique” I didn’t have 5 they wanted after the more senior person checked the 5 they initially accepted. It’s like yours, any fewer than 5 no dice. 10 would be impossible!
I am going to try one more time this coming season. In the past I have just donated but a couple of these pairs of high heels are almost new! And high quality.

its a tough call with consignment these days.

so many stores kind of like the teen platos closet around here. you bring in baskets of items, but, they pay you on the spot so you make less than you would consigning. i do have better luck at stores like this more so than consigning.

we have 2 very close to each other. one is higher end than the other. i go to higher end one first then bring what they dont take to the next and then i drop off at good will/salvation army/hospice type places what i didnt sell.

Well, I sold some pieces on Facebook’s marketplace. Easier than any consignment stores I tried before. Good luck to you, hope it will work out.

So, update, I went to my consignment appointment this morning. It was a lovely shop (great items, including a whole couture section) and every item was 50% off for winter clearance! The owner could not have been nicer, and she took all of my pieces.

Angie, there was a cream Chanel jacket (outwear, not blazer) that would have been perfect on your dainty shoulders.

Yay. If anyone else is hesitating about an appointment like this, be brave. Or just bite the bullet and get your things off to a favorite charity.

Good for you! I have to edit my closet so that I can make a spring appointment to consign. I'm pretty happy with the shop I use, although they can be pretty exacting. I used to take the stuff they didn't want to a lower-end place, but that place has been losing my stuff (and they won't pay you out if they lose your things). So I might just end up donating whatever the main shop doesn't want.
