How much do you take your husband's or partner's tastes into account when choosing your clothing? Does a heartfelt compliment make the next similar item irresistible? Do you turn away from something you love because you know it would make your SO squirm in embarrassment to be seen with you? Do you trust his tastes as a fashion adviser or is he so conservative/flamboyant/totally without taste that you just ignore his opinion altogether?
In my case, my husband is so conservative, that I can't take his tastes as a rule, or my clothing would be as dull as dust. On the other hand, I don't want him to feel humiliated when he's with me. And occasionally, looking back on things, I agree with his take, although it usually requires a lot of time. ;o) Yet the rare times he has bought me something to wear, he has absolutely nailed it. When he does object to something, I usually let it simmer a while before coming to a conclusion. His basic judgment is pretty sound, but his conservatism would eliminate almost all the quirky touches that make me happy. I often like a little element of surprise in my outfits, and he usually doesn't. It's a constant balancing act for me.
