I wasn’t really going to participate in the yearly retrospection activity because I hate drawing attention to the passage of time and I am not as analytical and intentional about dressing as many of you are. However, if I really focus, these themes stand out from the past year, and all are about things I didn’t buy:

1. I did not buy anything at retail all year besides the attached items and two or three basically souvenir T-shirts (which I like and wear, don’t get me wrong). Besides the bronze Dansko shoes, which I got on Amazon, none were bought from a chain or big store. (The first three items, two skirts and a raincoat, were from a single trip to an eccentric discount place in my area.) Everything else I bought was thrifted and a couple of eBay/Poshmark buys. I didn’t really set out to do this … it just happened.

2. I did not acquire any more retro/pinup-adjacent styles. Again not really a conscious decision. I reserve the right to do so going forward!

3. I did not buy any shoes I can’t walk at least a mile in. This was the only thing I did make a conscious effort with. I just don’t have enough occasions to wear purely decorative shoes. Even if I went to my office more, no one would be there to appreciate them. Boo hoo.

I hope everyone had comfortably, festively attired and happy holidays!
