Thank you for your positive words. It was a really interesting challenge and thank you Mary Beth for organising it.
I think the exercise helped me think about how accessories can make an outfit. I"m wondering if from now on, I should invest more on accessories and less on clothes. I also thought it was an interesting exercise to see what goes with what. In terms of what I would actually wear, the last one and numbers 6 and 7 are safe bets. I was surprised that I really like number 4 and actually plan to wear this to work one day....perhaps with a cardigan or denim jacket.
@Tanya. I look forward to your take on the challenge. Yes black tank and black pants are a great option, and may even be easier to dress down than this dress which is quite structured. Good point about silk.
@AndiB - I find it hard to do accessories because I am not a bag person...tend to stick to the same bag, and tend not to think about accessories. The dress is the brand Cue, an Australian/NZ brand. This is a thrifted dress but this would be the sort of dress that they would carry all the time or there would be something similar.
@Janet - yes its more versatile than I imagined.
@cat2 - great idea about the silk pieces. I should probably look into doing that more. I don't have a lot of need for evening wear so it is good to have things that cross over well.
@chewyspaghetti - Am looking forward to seeing your slip dress outfits. I love slip dresses but have always been hesitant with the narrow straps and bras etc. Now I have some lace bralettes, I might try them.
@ Angie Thank you. Its interesting that you thought number 7 was the most me. I definitely would wear it and would be very comfortable in it.
Yes I can see what you mean about a pants suit in a colour other than black. When doing the challenge, I realised it was harder to dress down the black as it seems quite extreme for a day at the beach or in the park...another colour might be easier.
@ Mary Beth- thank you. Most of them I would wear. I did find it hard to dress casually so wouldn't wear the first two unless I was stuck somewhere and it was all I had to wear to the park.
@suntiger - good idea about the clutch and some really fancy sandals. I suppose heels would also do it if I walk in them.
@nikki - I'm not surprised that you liked the boho look but I think you could come up with a better hat than me.
@Sal - I wonder if the bare legs seem more seasonally appropriate with the bare arms. I was thinking that it would have been great if I could have added different jackets but I wanted to stick to shoes and scarves. I think I need to buy some belts. I'm not sure what colours. I think I need to put more thought into colour capsules. Its a new concept for me. You are right about the column of colour looking more formal.
added note: I had always admired others in lantern pants but had never tried it. One of those preconceived ideas about what to wear. I googled lantern pants and found a great post from Angie. https://youlookfab.com/2019/07.....tern-pants I really like the first two and might look out for some pants as I do have some tops that would go really well for those types of outfits.
sorry for the novel.
