About that size 2 skirt . . .

it is a pencil skirt. And I know I've said a few times I don't wear them and have no place in my life for them. But . . . I'm rethinking that as of late. Maybe I could make it less 'officey' and fit into my style better. And I may indeed need to interview if the bar I've worked at isn't hiring this season.
So, with all that in mind, does this look 'me' as much as a pencil skirt ever could? And are my thoughts of possibly pairing it with my crop tuxedo jacket, as a pseudo suit, totally crazy or possibly something that could work?? I'm a fish out of water here! thanks!

I am all about the pencil skirt with casual top look to dress it down. Wear a loose sweater or drapey blouse and booties to counter the sexy/office possibilities.

I don't know. I want to say yes because it's a very attractive skirt and looks very easy to dress up or down, but the I don't know is there because I'm so new here I'm not familiar with anyone's style yet. :-S

As for being a fish out of the water... feeling the same here. For the first time in a decade I bought a skirt with intent to wear casually. My mind shrieks.

Ha - Catherine we are definitely on opposite sides of that spectrum lol! This will be the first lined skirt I will have had since buying a suit in '95 for airline interviews!!

I think you might be better off with a pencil skirt in a non-traditional color, such as dark purple, cobalt, citron, etc. - easier to dress down with pretty tops.

Well, Bella, if this size 2 ends up being too snug - which is a definite possibility - I will keep color in mind for the next time! That makes a lot of sense.

Thanks for the encouragement so far, ladies! I think I found clarity about what I didn't want from a pencil skirt - conservative. So I shied away. But I don't mind being dressy; I like a dressy touch actually (although recent WIW's would lead you to believe differently ha ha). I just can't stand the conservative corporate buttoned up look for me. So as long as I can 'funk it up' a little bit, it'll be great! Incidentallly, I *do* want it to be able to do interviews and such, but just don't want to limit it to that use alone. Eagerly awaiting the mailman next week!!

Mmmmm. I see. A funky strong shouldered shirt (maybe with dolman sleeves) might be fun. Booties, definately. A zipper-y jacket, natch. At least it will be more versatile than a LBD ;0
