I chimed back in on Celia's thread about finding the perfect tee.

This is what I said:
Ladies, I have to chime in one more time about tees. You might be expecting too much from them. They are just t-shirts. Often, just to be layered with. T-shirts are not miraculous wardrobe items that instantaneously make us feel fabulous, like a jacket, good pair of jeans or shoes. Actually, they are an under garment, which is how the tee started its fashion legacy in the first place. Be picky about your tees, but lower your expectations too.
It's hard to look remarkably good in a t-shirt because - well - it's a t-shirt. It's nothing more than a pajama top or underwear piece if you really get to the heart of the style. I have this conversation with my clients fairly often, round about now, when people are thinking about replenishing their basic t-shirt capsules. By all means choose a style in a fabrication that suits your fancy, and has a neckline, sleeve shape and fit that suits you. Just don't expect them to be the magical pieces that change up the landscape of your wardrobe.
Hope that makes sense.
