A wine tasting . . . but don't know if I'm working or just attending!

So my BF tells me tonight they need fill in people for the wine event he is working Wednesday night. But, I might be working it, as well as being a stand in to fill the room. Bottom line, I *will* eventually be doing events for these folks this year at some point, so I'd like to hit the right note! My first thought was - too bad my Gap slacks won't be here yet - darn.
They used the word formal, but that is relative in Tahoe, I think. How's this look for a possiblity? (I think the nude shoes would be dressier, but less comfortable if I'm working and standing for 3 hours, the black sandals are obviously less dressy, but can easily be standing shoes without hurting)

I LOVE that dress and the jacket. I probably would be more tempted by the black shoes than the nude ones, personally.

I like the sandals and think they are nicer for the event. IMO the nude pump looks more businessy. Anyway, I think you'll look perfect and I prefer the dress to the awaited slacks.

I agree re the black shoes. Very nice outfit. My only thought was whether it would be too dressy - but you know what the vibe will be.

Laura, I would rather be overdressed, as this is an introduction to a probable employer (whom my BF already has worked with in the past). My BF is wearing a suit to work it. I wanted to be on the dressy side, but not wear a 'party dress' since I may be behind those tables pouring, not sipping! I want to look a bit like I could mean business Hopefully this could work on either side of the table!

That sounds perfect then, Mo. I like the idea of the dress with the jacket to give a dressy but not too party-ish vibe.

I like your choices and prefer the black shoes. IMO your potential employer will be more impressed with your gorgeous legs in a dress. Not being sexist, but you do have great legs, people in event planning need attractive people to maintain the good vibes and you should use what you have. I would save the nude shoes for a more colorful outfit that requires some neutral grounding. When you get the job you'll get to try them out.

I too like the black sandals best --- they make the dress look a little less 'decorative party guest' and a little more 'able and willing to help the host(ess)', which should certainly help more. Don't think pale pumps are the most practical in a spill-friendly environment anyway, comfort issues aside (but that's entirely my own prejudices speaking, based on own clumsiness probably).

They aren't the best (still struggling with lighting now that I'm home) but here's the gist of it.
Dress alone, with jacket closed (clutching purse for my life apparently!), jacket open, showing the shoes, and from the back.

Oh, and we found out it's a slim chance that I'll be working, but I will be there with my BF, who is working it, so I still want to maintain a not too party! party! look hee hee.

I like it - not too flashy, still professional with the cover up and and colors. I like it unbuttoned, and that might be more comfy if you do have to work, also. The sandals are great, too, unless you need to protect your toes from falling bottles or food trays?

Rae, it doesn't look like I'll be working, beyond maybe grabbing a bottle if they run low or something. Mostly I'll be sipping and smiling I think! My toes should be pretty safe.
