I've always coveted that minimal, empty dressing room look with the vintage rolling rack for storing clothes. Not quite living in that kind of environment, nor alone though.....
To my surprise, my $18 Ikea rack investment has turned into a way for me to figure out my wardrobe in terms of what I want to keep and what looks out of place. I started using it as somewhere to hang up things as I sorted, but quickly found it a perfect place to hang the pieces I knew fit and worked into my wardrobe plan in terms of colour and fabric . I meant to put it away as soon as I finished (mostly so DH doesn't have to look at it ) but I'm thinking I might keep it tucked into the corner. It holds the key, core pieces, and you can see that the floral bomber, (in pic 2) initially hung there because I like it (lol) looks out of place . I couldn't leave it there because it was too visually chaotic. It belongs with the fun extra pieces in my closet - those I won't focus as much energy or $ on right now. Having the core pieces out like this is also a way to visually remind me that I DO have enough black and grey tops, but that I'm a little short on nice white ones, as an example. And most importantly - it's the first place I look at when deciding what to wear each day. I am working on a similar system for bags, scarves and jewellery - just a few key pieces of each.
And yes, once I finish, I will have everything on matching hangers.
Curious if any of you use this system.....
