A variation on Simple and Fab

While sourcing outfit inspiration for a new pair of olive chinos, I found and saved the 3 images below to my Pinterest 'Copy Cat' board. It is virtually the same combo Angie posted in today's blog, with the exception of olive chinos vs jeans.

Now, I just need a structured black jacket!

Wow - I really like this, Carla. I just can't seem to develop any discipline around using pinterest to get outfit inspirations and then I see this and think: yes: I love these images and I have these outfit items; I could do this! Thank you for offsetting my own laziness.

Any ideas for where to find a nice slouchy tee like this?

DonnaF, Jane - Navy would work as well! I just need to source a dark topper with a tailored jacket shape. I've been enamoured with the jeans jacket style for such a long time, and 'off' the blazer style. I'm thinking something with jacket tailoring but in a softer (stretchy?) fabrication - if such a thing exists.

Viva - when I introduce a new item into my closet, I do an outfit creation session, but to make sure I don't lean too hard on the old standards (striped T and jean jacket, etc.) I do a Pinterest search. I just type in the item, and 'outfit' or 'style'. Ex: women's olive chino outfit.

I have a grey T from Uniqlo and a Rachel Roy grey slouchey sweater - both favourites already. I have silver sneakers, but I think I would wear my black and leapord print pointy toe flats.

I can see this type of outfit as a sort of uniform. Try thrift and consignment stores for a jacket. There are unually lots of black jackets. I could see a trench coat worn open also working as a jacket.

I’m sure I have these same photos I live and die for the perfect slouchy army pant , which of course looks nothing like this on me. Doesn’t stop me from lusting after them though . Oh to be rakishly thin and tall ....

Wow! All of these are great! I can't find chinos like that either. Skimming, not skinny; wide enough at the bottom to cuff.... Joggers could work, but they make my butt look weird... I need pockets back there!

I LOVE Gwyneth's sandals. Like a gladiator-ish huarache??.... I see another elusive shoe hunt in my future, HA!

Runcarla, what about a jersey blazer for your topper?

I like these and agree they would work well with navy too. I would do the sandal version for me, I am not a stiletto wearer! I'd love to see it with your leopard print shoes.

A great alternative which reads dressier, especially when paired with heels. Gwyneth and VB rarely get it wrong.

Thanx for the visuals and yes-this is better suitable to my style as I don't wear much jeans nowadays and, this is how I would wear olive chinos with a black BF blazer.

That's a cute look that I think I could replicate too. For some reason I've never thought of pairing my olive pants with a blazer. I guess because mine are so casual.
