Is anyone else driven slightly nuts by the strings in hoodies? I have a couple of old cashmere hoodies (I should probably let one go, but that’s a discussion for another time), and I kinda want to remove the darn strings. Why do I feel like I even need to ask for “permission” to do this? I’m laughing as I write this. I guess I just wanted to know if I’m totally weird and alone in this.

Ha ha! I don't like strings on anything. I don't have any hoodies, but I don't like the strings on those boho type tops that lace up and tie in a bow (or dangle) around the neck. I have a cardigan/jacket that had some string things that dangled from it (some sort of design feature). I cut them off. I am also not wild about shoe laces. I try to tuck away the bow when I can. You are not alone. I am weirder.

I hate them! I almost always get rid of them. I don’t even like them in sweatpants. I don’t really have to worry about my pants being so loose they’ll fall down

I hate those strings the most on sweatpants or pajama pants! They often get lost inside the pants. Drives me banana s Feel free to hack away, if you won’t miss them!

I remove the string from sweatpants or it removes itself.

Haha! Glad to know I’m not alone. Strings, begone! I have a velour hoodie that I like but the string migrates to one side as I wear it. It’s now gone!

Don't let those strings boss you around. Unless you actually need to use them, you have permission to remove them. You can braid them and make friendship bracelets

Those strings drive me nuts. I never know what to do with them. I also hate the ones on pants.

You are not alone. I find them annoying, distracting, and potentially an actual problem if they caught on anything. I almost always remove (if they are in a casing) or cut them off. I do the same with the strings around the bottom of ackets. The only ones I don't remove are the ones that pull a hood tight on a coat where that is important, like a raincoat. I also sometimes shorten them if I want the functionality but not the length....hack off the end and tie a simple knot, and then do same on the other end if I care. Otherwise, strings be gone!

I don't think kid-sized hoodies are even allowed to come with drawstrings anymore; remember all those news stories back in the 90s about how the strings would get caught in school bus doors?

The ones in hoods don't bother me, but I have a field jacket with a cinch at the waist and that string bothers me to no end. It gets in the way when you try to zip the jacket, and looks dumb when you leave it unzipped. I'm hesitant to remove it because the jacket is improved by the waist definition, and even if I take the cord out there will still be a little channel around the middle of the jacket...

I don't like the string things as I get obsessed with keeping them at the same length and one usually gets lost in the hood. I don't buy hoodies that have strings because of this reason.

I don’t mind them so much but usually knot the beegeebees out of them so they don’t come out. I get teased about being dressed up casual and one time I was told to wear a hoodie- I got a pair of super glitzy over the top clip on earrings and attached them to the hoodie strings. It was a great laugh for all.

Ugh. I hate strings hanging off my clothes. They always get tangled in things and I am truly at risk of chopping off my head or even severing my body in half with hoodie strings and drawstring waists on pants.

So you are not alone. If we're weird, at least we're being weird together

No strings, no strings attached. I cut them off before they can wiggle their way into the channel and I have to fight to get them back out.
