Recently in Nanjing/chengdu/Kunming (east to west) and london. Very stylish cities. Lots of cash sloshing around in the areas we frequented, locals and tourist alike. More mixing of local social strata (in a way that was evident to an us visitor) in China vs way way more into tourists in london. General observations on street style

Chinese were more put together in a more formal very well pressed way that gave the impression of trying v hard vs london where louche / artfully undone was a style (except in the city where gecko dress code never died)

More skirts/dresses in Chinese cities, longer skirts, more modest vs london were mostly short skirts with dark hose and combat /Chelsea boots were everywhere. I saw a youngun wearing control top hose, a waist length sweater and a coat in shoreditch

Rare pants on women esp under 40s in China, mostly straight vs london where skinnies are back amid the straight legs. Wide legs on the young worn with sneaks, mostly white, or combat/Chelsea’s mostly black. Pants were cropped to show off the boots or covered the shoes almost entirely.

I don’t have a clear recollection of the shoes in China, mostly flats not v fashion forward, v “tasteful” which goes with the overall vibe. Style icon would be Chanel mostly, or a Chinese interpretation of American prepleisure

Hard to tell what is native london street style tho with so many tourists —esp Spanish at the moment—if I had to guess, a bit edgier just by the plethora of docs and doc-like footwear (although docs are relatively mainstream they give an aspirationally edgy vibe)
