A suggestion for Greg: a "sticky" thread with YLF abbreviations

Hi Greg!

The site looks better than ever, and I was wondering if it might be possible to add a third sticky thread on the top with YLF abbreviations. I have been absent from the forum for a while and have a bit of a difficulty catching up with all of them, and I am sure a lot of new posters might feel the same. Sort of like YLF dictionary that we could keep adding to

Yes! This works best if as people post updates, the OP adds them to the first post. So it would be good if the person responsible for the conversation is available to look after the thread on an ongoing basis. I'm sure one of the members could maintain it.

Seconded! Believe me, Tanya, sometimes even a week-long absence can leave me scrambling for some on-the-fly translations.

This is a great idea. Maybe a sticky thread, or alternatively a separate page where we collect the abbreviations. If someone makes a start at collecting all the important ones and sends it to me I'll make it happen.

One thing I really liked about YLF when I joined a year or two ago was that there were barely ANY abbreviations...it made me feel like I could join in any conversation without feeling at a disadvantage. I would ask that people keep this in mind moving forward as I have noticed an alarming trend of abbreviations cropping up on YLF lately, and I'd hate for YLF to get a "cliquey" reputation.
