This is part 2 of my search for the perfect blazer... here was my want list, I am going to address the leopard this time.

1. replacement stripe blazer for old one that was too big and I had tired of
2. replacement grey blazer for one that I feel is too big and not cool enough
3. leopard blazer just because I saw a lady wearing one and thought she looked great.

As mentioned in the list, the reason I wanted a leopard blazer is because I saw a lady wearing one and she looked great with a column of black underneath and a little gold. I just fell in love. This was december last year so I did alot of online searching for my upcoming trip to the US but there was not anything tempting out there.

months went by and just by chance I came over this leopard blazer at Zara. I purchased and brought it home. It languished in the closet for nearly a month and while I was trying to style my Mango stripe blazer I decided I should also try this one. To my shame, it didn't look very good and again, I think it is the length and to be honest, the colors. I am showing two front shots with different bottoms.

I might have loved the idea on someone else but just felt blah on me. Do anyone have any idea what I rather should have gotten in cut? Shorter, longer? I did love the materiel, kinda silky!

It went back the same day I returned the Mango stripe. However, I am sad to say, I got store credit and not full returns on both. I dislike feeling obligated to find something and afraid I will lose those little bits of paper. Anyone else feel that way?

Jayne, it is lovely to see you... you have been missed

Jayne I am not an expert, but I feel the stance of this jacket is too low. And while in theory I think the tones should suit you, I am not sure that they do. Having said that I wondering how a lighter colour might have worked under the jacket, say a white button down?

And yes I really don't like being obliged to use a store credit. I generally don't shop anywhere that I cannot receive a full refund

thanks for the good eye on why this jacket didn't work. I am really trying to be a good girl now and only keep or alter to perfection!

I see from latest posts that you are back to black. Funny, I feel myself gravitating back to my 'old' style as well. Nice to 'see' you!

My first thought was that the cut needed to be, as Angie would say, a bit cheekier. It seems a little long looking at the front and a bit boxy.
Shame about the credit note. I much prefer refunds.

Too bad about the returns. I think the jacket looks too boxy on you. Nice to see you back!

I'm not sure this jacket couldn't have worked. Of course if the happiness factor isn't there, it won't...and you were right to return it. But I think it had possibilities.

Perhaps a top with a bit more structure and a higher neckline would have helped.

I HAVE in fact lost credit notes!! I lost some from Le Chateau, about $100 worth. Was so mad at myself. So now I keep them in a little purse especially for that purpose. That way they won't go missing.

American retailers are now often giving store credit on a little credit card. This is easier to keep track of.

It does look a bit boxy and oversized on you so I think you made the right decision to return it. I think something shorter and more fitted, or a fun bomber might be an alternative. I hear you on the credit notes. I hate them too. Maybe one of your daughters will see something she likes.

I love the idea of a leopard jacket and understand your wanting one. I think this one might have looked better with a higher necked top under it. The pattern would be fun in a moto or bomber shape.

Suz and Joy, I did try a few tops with them as well but found I had few that really made the blazer pop. And since we want them to be versatile I also didn't want to be limited to just one type of top.

I think Missvee and Diana and Joy had good ideas about needing a cheekier form ... something to look for! But I admit that I have lost interest in the leopard. I am not normally a brown or beige color lover so I don't see why I am trying to make an exception for leopard.

Hmm, I am not sure about this jacket. I feel like it might be too big for you. Perhaps too boxy, perhaps too short. Not sure, btu I don't feel like it is fabulous for you.

I still think you can rock a leopard jacket, but you have to find the right one for you.

And yes, I hate in store credit. Especially when I paid for it with their store credit card. (looking at you Ann Taylor Loft) Most American retailers give it to you on a plastic credit card type thing (really just a gift card). Annoying as heck, and I now avoid purchasing anything I can't get a full return on. Especially as I return a lot (please Nordies, don't cut me off!!)

Me again! I was browsing the Net a Porter site and 2 leopard jackets popped out - one by Equipment and the other by Dolce Gabbana. Both rather $$$ but nice for inspiration if you change your mind. Just sayin'

oooo, MIssvee, I will take a look....but I didn't see anything on the european site...gotta switch to US...oh yeah,,I see the D&G one. fun and definitely whacky!

I think this one had some potential - but maybe not within your comfort zone. I'd have suggested you try it belted. And maybe over a black pencil skirt . . .

I'd be tempted to head back to Zara with your credit and a belt and skirt and give it a try, because I can't stand those store credits. I want to get them used up ASAP, so often resort to buying gifts for others.

I am sorry to hear about the store credit as well. It is tough to juggle return dates and I have had several unworn items not returnable at all because I was out of luck at 14 days. Like some of the others I no longer shop at all at stores that will not offer full return.
It sounds like you have already decided that maybe this one isn't what you are seeking. I do think you will find the perfect one.

That blazer looks a bit to large to me. Also, is the fabric a bit shiny? I'm thinking one a bit matte (wool?) with a quieter leopard would be easier to wear. Either that, or a mixed media jacket with a smaller dose of leopard. I've been looking for leopard booties or shoes and have been amazed at how many patterns I DON'T like. Never would have believed there are so many patterns. . .
