A second try on of the dresses from yesterday

Ok, after this I am DONE with dresses. I discovered a need this summer to update my dresses — most of what I have is getting a bit old and either has fit or style issues or I’m just not feeling it anymore. So five old dresses went away to make room for some new ones.

Oh, but I am waiting for the Amour Vert delivery of the black and white printed dress. Then I am done.

I now have many options from which to choose keepers, and I will be seeing which one(s) I decide I must wear in the next few days to determine my keepers.

Today after I cruised through the NAS, I stopped by Anthro (different location from yesterday), and they had the mod print dress that I posted yesterday. The store today had it in an 8 (I tried on the 10 yesterday as they didn’t have an 8). I tried it on and think the fit is better, so I decided to bring it home with me to try alongside my other new dresses under consideration.

It’s light and airy and is washable (yay!), and I think that with the button undone it has a more casual air, especially paired with casual slide sandals. I dig the groovy print — just enough retro for me, and I love that it’s grounded with black.

Also trying on the Cos dress at home, and even though it’s outside of my usual wheelhouse, I do like it. I wonder what hubs will think.

I really like the COS one on you - but I like weird things, so there is that. I think it's very arty, interesting and sophisticated, and that you might have a lot of fun with it. I just can't get on board with the Anthro one, I'm sorry. The pattern mismatch at the side seam in the front photo sealed the deal for me. I just don't see it as flattering on you as others you have recently posted. It's a heck of a lot of pattern and colour.

Love the COS one on you. It has an edginess that is consistent with your style. Not in love with the patterned dress, but I suspect it may be because prints can be difficult in photos.

Love the COS dress on you - very sophisticated and comfortable at the same time. You could wear it in all kinds of settings. I don't know if it matters to you, but is it washable?

That first one is a very groovy dress isn’t it!but I think that you might get more use out of the Cos one,it’s a very dramatic dress but you have the stature to carry it off and the arty vibe suits you as well.I m guessing the hubs won’t be keen as it doesn’t show off your figure but he may surprise us!

Love the COS dress. It is edgy and arty. I am not a fan of the patterned one. It takes centre stage.

I would probably take stock of your current dresses after the edit, the potential newbies (including the jumpsuits) and pick the best of the lot that cover the sorts of occasions that you tend to have ;

- working from home
- travelling
- studio time
- casual meals with friends etc..

For me in summer I like dresses to cover(excluding occasion wear)

- working (more covered and smart but not officey)
- casual dinners with friends at night at home and the beach
- weekend around the home, going to sports, travel.

I like to have a couple of options in each category for dresses and there is some crossover. My shortfall is the work category right now - the black Cos dress would work well for this and I suspect maybe for your gallery events too?

I actually made a video selfie in the Cos dress just to get an idea of the movement of it. It’s funny to me to watch a video of myself but it was interesting to see. I actually think I like it a little more in the video than still photos because you see more dimension.

My husband’s Proper Cloth order arrived today. When he gets home, I think we have to have a fashion show for each other.

It's not that I don't like the COS one, but I am still going to be the prints lone fan! Diagonal, retro, colorful polka dots? And I think it looks great on you! Link please if possible, so I can get a better look!

With the print dress I don’t see you, I see the dress, otherwise I like it. See if DH likes the COS dress. It looks arty and timeless and expensive/designer. I suspect that guys will think it sexy, especially if you are wearing great undies or nothing underneath and he knows it.

My first thougth was the print dress is more you than the cos, lol. Both look right though. So I think it will come down to what fits your needs best right now and which on you would reach for. I’m curious what it will be :).

I don’t t think this is a one or the other situation, but that you’re going evaluate all your dress purchases as a whole. Am I correct?

Christina, you are right.

I tried them on for hubs last night, along with the purchases from the other day (he is always in awe of my discount finds, so it’s especially fun to tell him “yeah, that was $25”).

First up was the Cos: his first remark was, “a little goth?” But then he said, “actually it’s cool, I like it. It’s interesting.”

Second was the bold mod print dress: he liked it even more. But said he still like the Cos too. Just different vibes.

Then I tried on the palm print jumpsuit from the other day. He surprised me and said, “I love that.” He thought it looked way more expensive than it was. It will be great for knocking around town here and for beach vacations.

The simple black dress with the mesh inserts also got a thumbs up.

Last, I tried on the grey jumpsuit, and to my surprise, he said he liked that best. But he said he liked them all and pointed out that I’d just given away half a dozen old dresses so I was due for new ones. We ended up doing the same with him — he got nine new custom work shirts from Proper Cloth, and is giving away that many of his old shirts from a decade ago, when he last stocked up on shirts for his corporate work (he’s back in that environment again, not at the ranch these days, so his wardrobe needs have totally shifted in the last month!).

Thank you, Angie! I like that I’ve found some dresses this year that are different from everything else I’ve been wearing for the last however many years. It’s nice to change things up a bit, especially in summer, when I tend to feel like I’m in a rut. I was not excited to wear most of my old dresses, so these are giving my summer game a shot in the arm.

Both ar great bout if you only keep one I vote Anthro. It is fun and gorgeous on you. Th touches of black make it perfect for your style. I don’t mind the unmatched pattern as the graphics break it up enough - still look good to me (and I am often picky about that).
