A right wee blether about boots

(This title is inspired by Emmy (2) who has just started speaking with a slight scottish accent, those rrrrr's are rolling.)

You may or may not be aware that I am saving for a pair of boots; it was love at first sight as far as these boots were concerned and they certainly fit my style aspirations of being both polished and dressy.

Now I am starting to have doubts, are the boots too much of a statement? This will be my only pair of black boots, will peoples reaction be 'not those boots again' if i wear them for a third time in a week. Secondly are they too dressy? After all I am a MOTG (Mum on the Go).

There is an alternative pair which I think fits my lifestyle better and has the same asymmetric top but these boots do not make my heart beat faster.

I was thinking over the weekend about a pair of boots that I bought in college. They were a classic riding boot. Sadly, they were always painfully one size too small, and I should have returned them for the correct size and eventually I gave them away. But I was thinking, if I still had them and if they actually had ever fit, I could **still** be wearing them--30 years later. Nothing else I bought then would still be fashionable, but--the classic riding boot--your black boot--is **always** in style.

The first pair, absolutely, Julie. They are gorgeous, and yes, have fab "polishness". But this is such a timeless and simple, elegant style that you can wear them all the time without you or anyone else getting tired of them. They will go with practically everything in your wardrobe too. I think these are the type of boots that can look dressy or casual, depending on how you wear them.

P.S. Can I come play with Emmy a few times a week? A Scottish accent is just so fantastic!!

Too much?! They are perfect. I just read a post by Kasmira from What I Wore Today. She wore the same DRESS, styled differently, three different ways at a conference and no one noticed. These are the kind of boots that can speak for themselves or sit back and let the rest of the outfit shine, depending on how you style them.

Oh, please do stick with the first pair. They are gorgeous, and their uniqueness is true unique design, not trendy/OTT embellishment that might date over time. Plus, as these boots are an investment piece for you, they should absolutely make your heart beat faster.

Late to the party, but have to add my two cents. Even cheap and practcial me would tell you to buy the first ones. For a few more pounds, you go from *like* to *love* which I think is neccessary when you are about to part with some major coin!

Also, I wouldn't worry about people thinking you are wearing them too often. I think you should sleep in them! A pair of boots that fab can become part of who you are, like your wedding ring or an expensive designer bag. I hope you wear them every time you leave the house... for decades, perhaps! I doubt you will ever tire of them. The second pair, you might.

Definitely the first pair! No question. I totally agree with Claire's comments. It wouldnt matter how many times I saw you in the boots I guarantee my thoughts would not be " she's wearing those boots AGAIN", the wld be more like "hmmm wonder if we are the same size.." and then mentally plotting how I could relieve you of them..the are totally fab.

Late to this, but I agree - go with your heart. Both pairs are lovely, but you were drawn to that first pair for a reason, and they will last you for years (I have a pair of Duo boots which I've had for about 8 or 9 years now, still going strong, and people still ask me where I got them from )

Love the first pair and glad you are getting them. I don't think boots are like other clothing items in that you expect people to wear them with more outfits.

And I DON'T think anyone would be bored of seeing you wearing it. If one, single remote person vaguely experiences some remote annoyance once at seeing you in them day in and day out, isn't that much better than yourself experiencing major bore at ones that you don't fancy as much but feel obliged to wear everyday?
