A rare new purchase: bright green blazer

I was very lucky to receive a very generous Express gift card for Christmas, so ever since I have been using it, in conjunction with coupons/promos, to alleviate my 95% SYC/SYB. Honestly, the remaining 5% is due to this card. I had a little bit of money left on it and some great coupons, so I decided to treat myself to two bright spring items (the second will be posted about separately as I am unsure about the fit).
I fell in love with this bright green blazer, which is very similar to the Halogen one Angie posted a couple of days ago, it has the same scrunched sleeves. The outfit here is a direct interpretation of Angie's column of denim formula, including patterned shoes (both of which feature a multi color pattern with some green int hem). I am not sure if I would dare to wear it to work, as I recently wore a similarly colored (but less bright ) top under a navy striped jacket which drew a lot of comments. But I will happily wear it elsewhere as the color puts me in a really good mood.

Tanya I really love the color. I prefer it unbuttoned in this combination. I dare you to wear it to work! Show those scientists what a stylish woman is like. Rock their world!

I LOVE this color on you! And it is so bright and cheery with the denim (thinking of Angie's column of denim formula--you're 3/4 of the way there)! I think that was a very wise way to spend the last of your gift card.

Lovely color on you. Do you have the pieces to do a tonal outfit in greens? It is a really interesting look and could work well with the bright green jacket.

This is a great jacket, and it is nice to add some "trendy green color" to your closet without breaking SYC/SYB.

I was recently in a meeting that included mostly faculty-level scientists, and it was great to see all the women in the room, including full professors, wearing brights or patterns - there was a bright red blouse, a patterned blazer with polka dot lining on the turned-up sleeves, and a coral-striped shirt among us (and I am not even sure what I was wearing but it was also something colorful).

Dianthus, I sadly do not own other green items for a tonal outfit, but it is a great idea. I do own a lot of blue though, which is how they styled the jacket on the site: http://www.express.com/ultimat...../index.pro

Una, I am 5'6"; but I also have a very long torso, so tops/dresses tend to hit me much higher than other people of my height.

Ah! I was putting you at 5'8" or so. I can see you have a long torso, but with your gorgeous hourglass figure, everything seems to look great on you!

Hard to go wrong with this color! It is bright but since apple green and other brights are still everywhere, hopefully the trend will grow.
Wear it over something that can stand alone and then if it feels too much, you can take it off. Over time, the eyes will adjust.

If I were your co-worker or boss, I'd want you to wear such a happy jacket to work

Una, I wish I were 5'8" Thank you for the compliment, but I can not wear anything, not even close to it. There is a reason why you have never seen me post a cropped pants outfit, for an example. The long torso is usually accompanied by very short legs. In my case, I think it is about 2" mismatch, that is, I probable have he torso of the the proportional 5'8" person and legs of 5'4" one.

NICE find, Tanya! And like so many others, I suspect you should wear it to wear at least once, if only to help the goalposts shift towards your comfort zone (I know --- that pace can be glacial, and this is easier said than done).

I just acquired a minty green blazer as well - and was also wondering if it was too bright for the office. I should try matching it with something "denim" colored as well; that's super creative of you and works well IMO.
