Pom poms are not my style. I don't mind an attractive detail, as long as it has some sort of function (or can plausibly pretend to have some redeeming use value). But now there is this. A pompom purse. I don't know the dimensions, but it might actually be a useful extension of the small crossbody bag I usually carry. Hmmm...

How big are those? They seem like they might only be pretending at functionality.

Jenn, I'm guessing big enough to hold keys and the lenses I use on my phone camera (the grey pouch in #2). There are several pix on the site of people holding them. They might not even be big enough for a phone. That's why it'd be an extension of what I carry now, not a replacement. The set of things I carry fits very precisely; when I need to add anything bigger than a receipt, it's difficult & I then usually hold my keys in my hand. The purse is 5x7x2”.

I wish our home was like this purse: compact, with precise ingredients, everything in just the right space. Alas, it is not.

I like it but was thinking the same as Jenn, it might need to be a bit larger. If you're going for an extension to your current crossbody I think perhaps having a little more size difference would look best?

I like having things like this attached to my keychain so I can find it at the bottom of a tote. If there's something you carry regularly that gets lost in a larger bag, it could be quite useful. Lipstick? Earphones?

So they’re too small to be useful, too big to go with the bag I usually carry, but could be useful if I had such a large purse that things got lost in it. I might still stop and see if they have them in stock at the mall.

Ps. Hope that doesn’t sound grumpy. I’m not. Just a little ironic.
Earbuds are a great example of something else I might want to add to my collection. A charger too, for that matter. But mostly I would not want to have a lot of stuff in this, so I could take on more whenever needed.

I would be careful about useful size (I made that mistake recently with a BR half crescent purse that was totally cute, but totally impractical).

But if it appeals to you on some level, that is worth exploring for sure.

I agree with Rachy... which is why recently I bought a leopard coat at H&M, despite my saying for years I was too old to invest in any sort of leopard pieces except in small accessory doses... the coat is like a pet. It spoke to me. I like the fur. Emotional reaction, it spoke to me. Which is sometimes enough to own something. Then figure out how the heck to wear it....

That is so impractical and fun that I want that little bag. It would be so incongruous with my style, and I like incongruity

You people understand me--better than I understand myself. I could not figure out why I wanted any kind of pompom. My style is not as strong as Cindy Smith's, but pompoms clearly do not fit. And you've explained it to me. Thanks!

I thought I’d let prices drop before picking one of these up, but looking at instore pickup for each color, I see that some are not available and you are directed to call and ask about the others. I guess a lot of people wanted to be the iconoclast with the unusual whoozit.

I went ahead and ordered. While I was at it, I went ahead and replaced the messenger bag I got a few years before my son was born. This is nowhere near as sturdy, but laptops are nowhere near as heavy as in the 90s, and I’m much less likely to need to schlepp a stack of books than I was then.

Cute! The way it splits reminds me of a macaron. It looks big enough for keys, lipstick and cards. What more do you need?

I have one on the way to me, but while I was at the mall today, I stopped and checked them out. The interior is about 3” in diameter and that deep too.
