It's only fair that men should have fun with fashion as well!
Well done, Angie!

Awesome job Angie.
Congrats

Loved the article and thought it was applicable to women as well.

Congratulations Angie! A very "grown up" article!

Great article Angie, I read it to my 23 year old son and plan on writing your
" question " on my mirror

Congratulations Angie. This is a great article. And I love the final question. I am adopting that for myself from this point on.

Awesome, congratulations!

Great article. The NYT is a jaw-droppingly huge score. Congratulations! You have such a warm, encouraging, gracious and level-headed way of sharing your opinions. Here's to many more big name publications to come.

Congratulations! I was reading my daily subscription edition online of the NY Times, and was floored to see your opinions in this article. WAY to GO!!! Best part of the article too.

Congratulations Angie. What a coup!

Congratulations! It was an interesting read, save for some of the nasty comments -- I read them all, as well as the original articles and Simon Doonan's response.

As for the topic -- and we all know the topic of age appropriate dressing is near and dear to my heart -- I am coming around to the opinion that there is more pressure for an outfit to "work" as you get older. You can be a hot mess of trends when young and it can be colorful or cute, but when you get older, you might come off as crazy. Similarly, as you age there is more pressure to get the proportions and fit right. This is why better fabrications, cuts and designs work better on us over 50.

Now mind you I don't always heed my own advice. And I make mistakes. That's why I also liked Simon Doonan's colorful style and sage advice, which is of the live and let live variety.

Pleased as Punch and Judy both to discover this!

Interesting topic. I'm surprised at some of the restrictive opinions expressed by other authors. Loved Simon's rebuttal. Agree wholeheartedly with your balanced and articulate article. Bravo!

I went back and read Simon's rebuttal and loved it!

And excuse me, but I thought the "Glamour Don't" gentleman in the original article looked fab! I'd date him!

Congratulations Angie. Diverging opinions just add more fun to the conversation, me thinks

Thanks for the link and congratulations, Angie.

Fun to see this topic discussed, as it seems to generate a lot of animated responses.

Thank you all so much for your sweet words and thoughts.

This is so wonderful. It is nice to see you getting the recognition that you deserve. But honestly, I feel a bit left behind when sharing you with the world. Like my child going to college and leaving me home, to watch from afar.. : ) I know in my heart that the world needs you !!!!

Many congratulations! This is wonderful for you!

Wonderful to see you in the NYTimes! Your writing is so clear and to the point, so accessible. And I love how you summed up age appropriate dressing: "Do I feel like a grownup in this?"
