This is my first reading of the poem, and Gaylene, I pictured a white mountain goat, nimbly appearing and disappearing on tiny hoofs, climbing higher and higher up a mountain side, tempting one to follow him. The sun and puffy tufts of clouds being the balloons, buoyant in the blue sky. I can imagine though, as a child, the goat-man image being scary! Sort of demonic pied piper.
