A new wool coat for me?

I have had this Talbot's toggle coat for several years now, and it's starting to wear out a bit. I wear it in the fall and early spring when it's too warm for a puffer coat.

I love the slightly Euro vibe of toggle coats, and am wondering what sort of style to try for my next wool coat - stick with the same, or branch out. Any thoughts? I have absolutely no vision at all of what to get. I like the above-the-knee-length for the obvious reason that it's easy for biking. But other than that, I have no parameters.

Sarah, I like this on you. I don't really know what is around to make suggestions, however I think something in a similar cut and perhaps a color would be nice.

Sarah, I don't know much about coats, so no advice there. If wool has worked well with biking and warmth, it's a good choice for your next coat....I also like the idea of color....

But I really chimed in to say how much I love this picture of you and your bike!

I love the toggles too! How about a more nipped-in and then flared out silhouette this time? With all the retro influences we saw on the runway this year, that should be around this year, I trust? The fuller skirts are even handier on a bike and look great too, I think.

And yes, in a nice deep colour --- forest green or cherry red, say? Or perhaps a light blue, teal or lilac to highlight your eyes?

Sarah, this photo looks like a pic from Travel and Leisure!

One can never have too many coats (remember advice from your LE Puffy thread?).

That said, with temps over 100+, I don't know if I can clearly advise on your next wool overcoat at this moment.

I'm with Heather! One can never have too many coats! And on that note i feel free to confess i have already bought one new coat for fall/winter this year!! XD

But seriously you look great in that one! I love toggle coats! If it's still in good condition though you might want to try adding a wider variety to your closet. It might be kind of hard to think about right now if you don't have something specific in mind. Can you think of any outfits in your closet you put together that you felt would of looked out-of-this-world if you had a slightly different coat?

I like the style a lot and the color! It certainly does have a Euro vibe to it and the cut is flattering. If this has served you well in the past then I think you could keep and replace with similar as it starts to look more worn.
ETA
I am assuming you still love how this coat is working with your style. We all change a little as we evolve style wise so that would be something to keep in mind. Does it still fit the style you are going for?

Sarah, I cannot believe you have only one coat living in Minnesota! Girl, you need more that that!
For me I would try something different just for fun - but I get easily bored and crave change. Also how about branching into color. I LOVE my cobalt blue, red and purple coats and they cheer me up to no end on a gloom cold day.

Thanks for your input, everyone. I do think I'm ready to try more color. However, I do like the fit/style of this coat, although to clarify, it is getting rather worn at this point - the wool is starting to pill in places and the lining is starting to wear through.

I will definitely be checking NAS for coats, as I don't have a great vision at the moment. I do like the toggle coat style, and would be open to keeping with it.

ETA: I did like the look of the Michael Kors rust-colored coat in the NAS catalog I received in the mail, although the deeply notched collar doesn't seem very practical in the cold. The color is lovely.

I love toggle coats and they really suit you! Fab pic! I like the idea of another one for you, maybe in a different color, as others have mentioned. J. Crew always has a good selection of toggle coats each year, and they make a good wool coat (I've had one of theirs for about 5 years now, and it's still going strong).

In my opinion a pea coat is never wrong. I can also picture you in a heather gray A-line coat like this one

Personally I always wish I had a winter white coat, but maybe that would get too dirty on a bike? Don't know what your conditions are like.

Scarlet, I like that silhouette. White would be a disaster here because of the salt and sand that they put on the roads in the winter, not to mention the splatters from the road when I bike.

Jonesy, thanks, I will definitely check out JCrew this winter. I do like the vibe of toggle coats, or something similar. I'm getting some ideas.

I love the toggle coat. I'm totally winter coat impaired but I don't think you can go wrong with something similar.
