Here's a new hint I just discovered....

You know how the back of your hairdryer has a vent, where the air sucks in and with it (over time) dust and lint? I always find it difficult to get all the lint out of the mesh. So the other day, I grabbed the old mascara wand that I use to groom my eyebrows, and used it to get the lint out of all the small crannies. It worked likea charm. Every last spec of lint came up. Then I just ran the end of the brush under water and it all rinsed away.
