Rachylou, I have been thinking about a bomber jacket...which would be a bit of a way outside of my comfort zone, not a bad thing, but will need careful choosing.
JAileen, thank you, I don't have a denim jacket, so may be my next addition to my casual wardrobe would be a denim or bomber jacket.
Jenni, I think it will need some thick tights for cooler winter days, and I think a cropped or shorter top will be best.

Donna F, the length is okay I think - photo below - I don't think it is easy to shorten the skirt but I will look later. May be it will be a bit too long to wear it with sneakers.

I wore the skirt last night; we are on holiday in Scotland, same place as last year (just as green, just as wet!, just as beautiful). I wore it with my lovely Kooples jumper, which I adore! There are cranes embroidered on it. Getting the tuck in right is a bit of a fiddle.
