some farmers are culling their herd because they can't afford to feed all the heads. on the plus size, lower prices for leather. on the other hand, alligator farms supplying high end purse makers (hermes specifically) are NOT producing more hides and not breeding more gators due to a drop off in demand.

the leather moment seems to be driven both by external fashion factors (lots of leather on the f/w 2012 runways and in the mags. also by herd behavior (no pun intended, no insult intended) especially when the women who post their finds look so fab-U-lous in them that i get lust in my heart (hello jimmy).
