Added Pic for Angie : A New Dress: Keep or Return?

Hi Ladies,

Went shopping at lunch time, and this dress that I had been a bit keen on was on sale.

It is a tunic style dress and I had hoped to wear it in all its waist surrendering glory however I think the pattern just makes me look huge. So I have tried it a few ways tonight.

#1 Reigned in with my wide patent black belt.

#2 Unbelted and showing of the sleeves

#3 With leggings and flat shoes

#4 With tights and black boots (actually they are my leggings cos I couldnt be bothered putting on hose... I think a more sheer hose would look best?)

So is this a keeper?

Thank you for looking, your opinions are invaluable to me.

Wow 1 & 4 are just amazing. Sheer hose on both would look fantastic.

I actually think it is the arm that makes the dress look too big. Could be the pattern but the arms are distracting. You always look so put together but this dress isn't my favorite. Sorry:(
Let's see what others say though as I am not a "dress" girl.

1 and 4 are great on you. I agree this one is not great with waist surrender because of the sleeves and the pattern.

I think you're right, it's a bit too much unbelted. But I love it belted! I think the pattern is great and very you and I love the full sleeves when the look is belted. Does it fit in the shoulders? If yes I 'd say keep it!

Incredible with the belt and boots, and I love the colours, abstract print, and bell sleeves. I can see why you stalked this and think it's a winner!

Sheer hose would be ok but this is a very strong/clean/graphic look and I think opaques or leggings would serve it well.

How does it look unbelted with your arms at your side, standing regularly? I think it's a lovely dress.

I love the pattern Deborah - it's still your signature black but mixed with that pretty coral colour. I love it belted with both the pumps and the boots. I'm not as crazy about it with the tights underneath but that's just a personal preference. I say keep.

Deborah, I am on the fence about the width of the sleeves on your petite height. At the moment I am leaning towards return because it looks disproportionately overwhelming to my eye. Sorry to be a mare

That being said, perhaps you could take a photo with your arms by your sides.

I like it in #1 with the belt and bare legs. There is just too much fabric and too much stuff with the leggings.

I like it, Debora! I also think it looks best with bare legs. The black leggings/pants cut down on its boho/feminine vibe and look far too heavy!

Keep it! I like all four looks but #1 really caught my eye. You look very modern and chic!

I can't see the detail on the sleeve. Is it multiple layers cascading or just one layer? If it is just one layer and it is not too wide of a "bell" you might be able to do a quick fix if you wish to keep it. You just need to pass a piece of elastic thru the sleeve's hem and voila, you have "bubble" sleeves, like in this pic.

I happen to like the dress, if you can work around the sleeve issue. If it is too much hassle, I vote return.

This dress made me draw in my breath. I love the bits of coral in it, and I like the sleeves. You could always put a hairband on each arm and blouse over them.

I love the dress, particularly in 1 and 4, but I am unsure about the huge sleeves - I do think it's them that make it feel like you look 'big'.

Angie, you are not a 'mare! I wouldnt have asked if I didn't want honest feedback:)
I have added a photo with one arm down. I can take more pics if necessary. I as also considering what the dress would look like belted over a boot cut trouser a la my brown patterned wrap dress over my brown boot cut pants?!?!? (which I have reposted here for reference)

I like the dress but don't want to keep it unless it looks fab.

Ladies appreciate your comments, have to run and do school drop off but will come back to respond. xxx

Hi Ladies,

I am very conflicted! Most of you are saying keep but Angie's comments about the sleeves are niggling me...

The sleeves are part of what attracted me to the dress, however if it's not an 8 or more then I am reluctant to keep it.

I will think on it over the weekend

Pretty dress, and I love the style, but I think it overwhelms you. I'd say there are better choices.
