A necklace for my sister. ETA 2 more, oh no!

She looked radiant for our nephew’s wedding. She usually wears way too many sequins and sparkly stuff that turns her into a walking cliche. This time she kept it simple and looked stunning. The band of blue beads picked up the color of her eyes and lit up her whole face.

I’d like to get her a necklace that mirrors the effect of that dress and that she could wear with casual or dressy tops. Want to help me pick? These are from Nordstrom and the National Gallery of Art, but I’m open to buying one from other places too. We usually stay around $25-35, but if I make it do double-duty as a birthday gift too, I can double that amount. Right now the NGA has 20% off.

I like 4, 5, and 6 best; the two finds look great too. Metals are probably easier to pair with a wider variety of outfits (and can dress up casual pieces particularly well if the metal isn't distressed).

Well, if the necklace is meant to pick up the colour of her eyes, I guess it has to contain blue. And if it is meant to be worn with BOTH casual and dressy tops, I guess that some of the ones shown here will be too dressy.

I vote #13 or #14/15. Both styles seem very versatile. But I suppose that the eye-mirroring effect would be even greater if they contained more blue ...

I included 11/12 because it is the most direct copy of an all blue band and, as The Cat points out, it seems like more blue would have more eye-mirroring effect. But it isn't my favorite by a long shot and no one has chosen it either. Otoh, 14/15 is a strong favorite among your votes, and I think it will draw out her eyes, even though it has so little blue itself. I don't understand why that is.

I'm planning to place my order over the weekend.

So I went to Nordstrom's site to get their pic of #5, because I don't think my in-store snapshot puts it in as good of light as the professionally photographed ones. It seems they don't have that color on-line, but look what I came across instead.

I generaly don't love statement necklaces all round my neck, only front if possible.Here I like 4,5,6 and 15 and think with her proportions and the wish to mimic the dress the necklace or chocker should not be very thight around her neck, rather lower. But beware: the one you showed above it's quite another kind of thing, more dainty& classic.

Lyn67, which one are you referring to in your last sentence?

My favourite is this Cirrus Lapis necklace. I think she would be thrilled with any of these, as they are beautiful. What a wonderful present, it will remind her of her special dress.
