As I mentioned in another post, I've "invested" in a few new wardrobe essentials: A navy blazer with matching trousers, a navy dress and a couple of sweaters. I also bought a small purse/clutch in black suede leather. Then a happy skirt came along, too!

#1 The suit is by Filippa K, a Swedish brand. it is in deep navy, or is it ink blue? The fabric is 98% seasonless wool and 2% spandex. I intend to wear this all year. The blazer is slightly cropped, has two buttons and narrow lapels. The trousers are slightly low-waisted with narrow legs, and as I am between sizes here I sized down because they advised me to do so in the shop as the trousers will ease a little when broken in. I hope that was wise.

#2 The dress is also by Filippa K. It is in viscose jersey with some synthetic fiber too. It's very basic with no details, and slightly lighter navy than the suit. I've made a couple of quick stylings to illustrate how it can work for bot casual and dressy occasions.

#3 The navy suit with black turtleneck. I feel very fashionable:)
#4 First, I've added a sparkly top over the turtleneck, added the purse and black pumps. Second with a new cropped wool cardigan in cobalt blue, snakeskin belt and dressy boots.
#5 Smart casual/casual with a plain v-neck sweater and also with the grey cashmere hoodie.

The happy skirt:
On my wish list for 2014 I had a skirt in a fabric suitable for dressing up and down. Lo and behold - I found this polka dot silk skirt from Club Monaco in "my" Salvation Army thrift shop last time I was there, and fell in love. It fits me really well, has a subtle shine, is lined and certainly very easy to dress up and down. Sometimes I have luck!

#6 With the sparkly top, lace tights and pumps. Then with boots and cobalt cardigan.
#7 More casual/smart casual with black turtleneck and navy blazer, then with a black v-neck. I wonder if this waist-surrendering works on me or not.

My hair has changed considerably lately, and almost all my curls are now gone. My hair stylist straightened it a bit more yesterday. I'm not very happy about this, but that's what happens to me anyway.

So - I hope you like my new essentials and the happy skirt. I hope I will be wearing the heck out of these pieces all through the year.

My questions for you:
What do you think of the fit of the blazer, trousers and dress?
What should I do with my hair now that the curls are vanishing?

Any comments and suggestions are highly appreciated as always. Thanks for looking!
