I just realized I'm a "veteran" now! Apparently I discovered this lovely group a year ago, on a cold, lazy weekend day much like today (I'm puttering around killing time until the Ravens game). And wow, how much has changed in a year!
In looking back, I'm so grateful for the changes in my life and in my style and confidence in the last year. YLF has definitely played a significant role, and at the risk of sounding like a cheesy awards acceptance speech, I really want to say thanks to all of you here, especially Angie and Greg.
A year ago, I:
- was approx. 15-20 lbs heavier and was able to hike many miles but not run more than two minutes before walking. I hadn't even thought I would ever contemplate running a half marathon, but I did last June, and I'll do it again in March. Now I can run 3 miles with no walk breaks (I'm a little off pace now, need to work myself back up again!).
- had only just purchased my first pair of skinny jeans to tuck into boots. My "uniform" had been bootcut jeans with a button-front shirt or tee. Period.
- was feeling much more self-conscious about my body than i do now. I had a bad habit of putting down aspects of my body that I had always hated. I'm much more accepting now and appreciative of it for what it can do, rather than only what it looks like.
With the terrific feedback and inspiration I've gained here, I have become more confident in my style and taste, more willing to take risks...and my bank account is a little lighter from all the shopping I've done! I've purged a huge amount of clothing from my closet that no longer fit my body or my life or my new style, and I've added great pieces that make me smile and feel fab when I wear them.
It was a good year, and this one will be even better!
