A Little OT: White (Yay) or Black (Nay) iPhone

If you were getting a new iPhone, would you get black or white? I've only had the black ones. I like the look of the white but worried it might be too flashy and get too dirty (make-up primarily). What do you think? Vote Yay for White and Nay for Black

Easy for me - black. All my Apple products are black and always have been. To me black is sleek and white is crisp, and I equate Apple with sleek design so black it is.

Also, are you drawn to high contrast or low contrast? The white is very high contrast as it pure optic white and no matter what is on your screen, the focus will be on the white housing. The black serves more as a background and your eye focuses on the screen easier.

Gosh, I love what DressLover said! Her last line about black serving as a background describes it so well and visually. I have a black iPhone and that's my preference. They truly are talking jewels of design.

Black. The white looks, to me, like a phone that escaped the factory with just it's primer coat.

I prefer the white. But mine is ensased in an Otter box case that's pink and black so the only white you see is a smidge around the Apple logo.

Mine's only a 3GS so it looks different. But it seriously protects it.

I have a white MacBook but a black IPhone. They lead separate lives so they don't have to match!

Since phones get handled so much, I think black is better to hide the dirt. Actually, I don't know anyone who has a white IPhone..hmmm.

I love my white iphone! It feels feminine without being frilly. It hasn't gotten dirty at all in the few months I've had it, but it does have a (see-through pale yellow-colored) flexible case on the back.

I'm on team white, so I vote Yay for white! I live in a hot climate, so I've gotten used to white cars, white laptops and white phones! (Not that I have any of these yet!) So much cooler than black. I think white looks very SoCal!

I have a white one. Hubalicious ordered it for me and thought it looked more "feminine" - which I thought was sweet so I went with it. I like the graphic look with the cases I'm looking at (I just have a plain black one now as I wait for them to come out with more cases for the new phone).

White! I recently became an iphone user and was told I would be waiting ages for a white iphone, so i have a black one. Its an awesome phone but I am so envious of people with a white one. My ipad is black so at least they do match But I have every intention of swapping over to white when I can but for the moment I have a white Iphone cover, and my Ipad is in a lovely white leather look cover also.

Thanks everyone. I *still* haven't ordered it because I can't decide on the color. According to DL, I think I am more of a "black" low contrast person. My iPad is silver (and was a gift) so that doesn't even help! Every time I decide "black" then I second guess myself. One benefit of white would be I would know it was mine. We have 2 old black and 1 old silver iphones kicking around and dh's is black. Mine would be the only white one. I have to decide today. I've had a broken camera on my iPhone for months now; I really need to get a new one.

White! I've had mine for months and it still looks great despite living in the bottom of my purse or in the pocket of my barn jacket.

It's funny how associations differ. I think of white as minimalist and clean, which I associate with the Apple aesthetic. Just think of the stores. I invariably associate black tech items with the PC world:)

WHITE. I have the white and living in the Bay Area, just a stone's throw from the Apple Headquarters, I know a ton of people with white. It's not harder to keep clean. It's a glossy white, so it wipes clean just like the black. I have the matching apple white bumper cover and it looks very slick. My husband has the black and now that I have the white, he has major color envy!
