A little help, feedback and advice.

I know it may be unusual but I really love making women's clothes. Not that I wouldn't make men's, I just love the options and versatility of ladies clothing. My main problem is that I am not a woman, so I'm not sure if what I'm making would ever appeal to an actual women who might wear it.

I don't really want to make money via this as I'm currently doing a degree, but I would love the opportunity, not here, but to sell the clothes to fund my hobby.

Anyway, to the point. I was wondering if I could post some of my handmade wears here and maybe get some feedback on how they look, suggestions on colours or design flaws etc. I make and sell a lot to friends mainly, who always love my stuff. Just wanted to get an outsiders view. Everyone here seems so knowledgeable.

Thank you, I like the drawstring and casing. It gives it a lovely shape I thought. This is the first piece I've made pockets on too, which kinda made me all giddy haha

Cute fabric. I agree with Ceit, the waist detail is interesting. I really like the buttons and the cuff detail on the sleeves. Nice job!

Oh thank you. I love cotton poplin and retro vibe was so appealing. Purple is always a favourite colour too.

That's darling! Lovely fabric and looks nice and cool for a hot day. I do see an issue with button placement - anyone with above an A cup and it will gape open at the chest. Since the wide spaced buttons look like part of the design, you might want to sew some invisible snaps in the placket?

Oh thank you, il get on snapping it up a little. Keep some dignity haha. I'm glad it's been taken well, I'm always nervous I will like something which I'm not really in the position to wear haha

Aw thank you, I have no idea how I would price something like this. I have looked about, does anyone have any suggestions? I thought maybe £24.00 that takes into account what I spent and then about £7 to buy more? Idk.

Some similar look around that price, I just want someone to be able to wear it really. (Hate the selling part)

Do you have a sister or someone you could use as a fit model? That could really help with the nuances of fit. That way you could advertise it as fitting a slim rectangle uk 10 with strong shoulders or whatever.

I like it! And it has pockets! Which always makes any dress or skirt a thousand times better
The price you're thinking of is really rather cheap for handmade though. You could have a poke around on etsy, see what others charge for similar dresses.

Haha thanks. I thought adding some deep pockets would give a casual feel.

I would love to have someone wear it, I just live quite away from family atm because of uni. I was a little nervous and embarrassed to ask anyone. I know it's silly, just idk.

I have put the dress on etsy, the prices range really. Some have got quite large price tags while others not so much. I really don't know what people would be willing to pay, I'm yet to sell to anyone who isn't a close friend or colleague.

Well done you! I think it looks great - having made my own stuff in the past I know it's not easy to get a result you are satisfied with (or was that just me?!). Best of luck with it, and put some more photos up so we can see what you're making. (If you're at uni in London my daughter has volunteered herself as your fit model!)

Hi! Don't feel bad about being a man who likes to make women's clothes...that's not all that weird. Many of the big-name designers of women's clothes are men. And people don't think that male gynecologists are weird. :^)

I like the dress too. Cute and playful, but practical. I think the pockets are awesome--I hate wearing a dress without pockets, and I think many others are in that camp. I am only an A cup, so I can't say anything about gapping. ;^)

Maybe you could show these pictures to friends too and ask what they think people would pay for the dress on Etsy. On the Etsy page, can you provide a picture showing the dress in one piece, from top to bottom? Also, I find it really helpful when retailers provide bust, waist, hip, and length measurements. That way I know whether the item has a very good chance of truly fitting me.

I will take all into account and put measurements up as I think it's a great suggestion!
I agree it's impossible to find something I'm completely satisfied with, those are the only garments il sell.
I live in the West Midlands, shame really because a beautiful model would of been amazing!
