A K/R, college reunion wear, and few new items

I've been traveling a lot for work and so have not been very active on the forum lately, so I'm sorry about that. I have been lurking whenever I can. Also, we are on the brink of empty nest -- DD the younger just left for Hawaii for the summer and then on to Portland OR for school, and DD the elder is moving out for good to NYC in just a few weeks. So hubs and I are determined to kick things up a notch -- more exploring and doing, more having fun together. Which is good. Anyway, life has been busy.

I've picked up a few things lately -- some I love, some I'm unsure about. I'm sure you will be completely surprised by the dominance of the JCrew brand. I will apparently never ever get off that bus. Would appreciate any and all opinions.

Pics 1-2: Tags off. New cropped faded mid-rise jeans from JCrew. Nice amount of stretch. Nice length. Great fit. These are replacing my old Pilcro crops which stretch out terribly when I wear them. I'm so excited to consign them! Also wearing a great hi/lo pine green top from JCrew which can dress up or down, but I was a little disappointed that the V is a bit low to wear for work.

Pics 3-4: Tags off. Expensive impulse buy while shopping with hippie DD the younger. Freebird by Steven Quail sandals. Amazing, love them. More RATE than I usually dress, great 3" block heel. I look forward to dressing these up and down. I think I might live in these this summer.

Pics 5-7: K/R? High-waisted cotton-blend pencil skirt from JCrew. I have een hating the feel and look of my VC tube skirt lately, and it is my only warm weather skirt. It's headed to consignment. Do you like this one? Where would you wear it? Will I wear it? So many questions. I think I love it but am not sure I will actually wear it.

Pics 8-10: K/R? JCrew cropped black jumpsuit. This has great potential for versatility. I can see wearing this out for a day in Portland or Boston with DH with slip-on sneakers, or dressed up with heels for dinner. I also wondered if this might be the perfect thing for my college reunion? it's been 30 years, and I might run into an old beau or two -- definitely would like to be on point. haha. Thoughts?

Pic 11: Tags off: Earrings from Nickel and Suede (featured blogger some time ago). I bought them in size small in chrome and citron. I love them as a fun alternative to my ordinarily small earrings!

The jeans, jumpsuit and sandals are freakin' amazing. I say pass on the skirt. Looks a little too high-waisted in the back view. That jumpsuit is FANTASTIC!!

Jumpsuit and shoes are on point. The highwaist skit I seem to want to pull it down for some reason. I agree with lisap is there a such thing as to high.

Love the jeans, the jumpsuit and the sandals. The green v-neck looks great too. The skirt is also nice but I'm not as sure about it for some reason.

Awesome jeans, sandals and jumpsuit! I like the skirt a lot, but I also think that it does perhaps look a little too high waisted. Mind you, you have the slender waist to show it off.

starting backward--jumpsuit-big thumbs up! prefect for a reunion, you look great, and its a great way to show how current and modern you are. and love the shoes with it. love the skirt from the front and side, but the backview makes me wonder if the skirt is actually to big. the jeans and sandals are FAB, love the "rateness" of the sandals, sometimes you just need to get something that pushes you a little.

Love the jumpsuit so much! And the new jeans and earrings. I also really like the skirt, but I don't think you'll get enough wear out of it unless you have several formal-ish events you need to dress for regularly. And I think I'd be too hot in a skirt like that come summer.

Thank you all for the kind words of support for the things I kept.

And thanks also for the very clear direction to send back the skirt. Since I have lived with only one warm weather skirt for a while, and have really not worn it much, I think I can live with none until the right one comes alone. I really appreciate the candor and the help.

LOVE the cropped jeans with the new sandals. Killer perfect pairing. You were soooo right to rip those tags off. ENJOY.

The striped skirt looks super. I like the high rise. But if you don't think you'll wear it, you should return it.

Not a fan of the leg width combined with the length of the jumpsuit - UNLESS you wear them with black high vamped sandal booties to close the gap.

Thanks for your perspective, Angie. I think I am with you on liking the higher rise of the skirt but I don't think I will wear it enough to justify keeping, so I will probably let it go.

I really struggle with your comments on "closing the gap" with regard to cropped pants (I've read this here before). To me, the gap is the point of cropped pants. Anyway, if I wore this jumpsuit with flats I would probably do a little casual roll, and if I wore with heels -- any heels -- I would leave the leg as is. I am probably keeping the jumpsuit. I really love it.I might pull it down a little closer to my hips which would add a little more length; that is how the JCrew ladies wear it.

Viva, it's not the gap - it's the pant width with the gap (or length, since the gap is caused by the length). Of course, cropped pants need to showcase part of the ankle. That's the point, as you mentioned. That's why ankle strap shoes and high vamps are on trend with the crops.

Rolling the pants will adjust the length, which helps proportions to my eye.

We can absolutely live in peace about our differences in opinion on cropped pants. If you hadn't specifically asked for feedback on the jumpsuit - I wouldn't have mentioned it. The shape and length of the jumpsuit pants worn with the low vamped pumps is your sugar eye - I appreciate that.

And last, FWIW, for your reunion - the cropped jeans with the new sandals get my vote. It's a stronger and more impressive statement than the jumpsuit.

Those J.Crew jeans are perfect, and so are the shoes. I am not a fan of high rise skirts or jumpsuits, but I do like both of these on you. Those earrings are gorgeous!

I'm really late to this thread, but I love the jumpsuit on you -- I think either tapering the hems a little or rolling the leg a bit will do the trick. And those jeans are fantastic on you. Wish I could wear that cut so successfully!

I'm super late here because I'm not on the forum much right now, but I love the sandals, love the jeans, love the earrings, and LOVE the jumpsuit with a little roll to make the bottom of the pant legs narrower, and any shoes you please!

I was considering ordering a pair or two of those earrings and I might just have to do that. Hmmmm.....
