A HUGE K/R: the Theory blazer in leather

I'm a little nervous about how much of a splurge this was. It is a size down from my fabric one in the same cut. Neither of them close in front, nor are they supposed to. The leather one feels a bit tight in the shoulders, but I think it will ease a bit and I don't think it LOOKS tight. Don't ask me why I've styled it this way, except that I wanted to see if I could dress it down - it's easy to dress up.

Two pix with different light - that's how fast it changes at this time of year! Third picture is my current Theory blazer: same cut, different size.

Total honesty please - it has to be an 11 out of 10 to stay and play! Thank you.

It doesn't look too small at all, and I'd hesitate to go bigger with how fab this fits and how perfect the shoulders and sleeve length is.

It doesn't look too small on my monitor. I'm like Zap, I prefer leathers to be fitted like a 2nd skin, and this looks like a part of you to me.

This looks great, but are you wearing sleeves under this? And if you are truly nervous, show us a side and back view just to be sure. I don't see a problem however. Can you hug yourself (for us)?

DonnaF, thanks for being my virtual dressing room sister! Here are photos of back and side. Nothing is too tight in those areas because the jacket doesn't close. It's my upper arms in the third picture in that position - and maybe that happens to all jackets? A self-hug included!

It seems to be loosening up a bit just from my flailing around. And judging from how my leather skirt has bagged out, maybe it will give a bit more over time?

Love it! I'm going to see if I can try one on tomorrow, I'm having a lot of trouble finding leather jackets that fit my short torso. Is this the jacket you have on? Would that bother you to have me in the same jacket as you? I could refrain from posting WIWs.

Yes. I'm wearing it in the 6. What do you think of the fit on me, Denise? Especially the way it falls in the middle, since the lapels don't meet and I couldn't button them if there was a button ( but the very tips can touch).

And hell no, it wouldn't bother me! I'd be thrilled to be a jacket twin - I would steal your whole closet it I could!

As you said, the fit looks great in the shoulders and back, but I can see what you're saying about the fit in the upper arm in the third picture. Theory cuts a very narrow arm in some of its jackets (maybe they think that women don't work out enough to build muscle in their biceps?) I'm wondering if the jacket going to work over a long-sleeve top because of the narrow sleeve?

On the other hand, if the leather is very soft and pliable, it will probably could stretch a bit after you've worn it. Only you can tell if the jacket feels comfortable enough right now to make it worth the price. It's a wonderful piece, but, as you say, for the price, it has to be perfect.

Is there a reason why you chose to size down? The fit on your fabric jacket looks perfect.

I'm going to go try it on over some long sleeves. It's more of a blazer than a jacket, so I'd be wearing it with tanks to work, but I'd like it to fit over a thin long sleeve layer, at least.

Also, it's okay to wear it around the house to see if it loosens up, or is that evil if I then return it?

Una -- it looks better on you than on the model. I love the way it falls on you. Length is perfect. Do you typically have issues with sleeve length (on non-petite clothes) or are your arms long?

That's a good question! I usually scrunch so I don't pay that much attention, but arms are not usually a major issue for me. Well, arm length. Upper arms are an issue and Theory cuts everything so narrow! I was worried this looked too narrow on me, like a cardigan that falls too far to the sides. It does make my running gear look good though.

Can't wait to see it on you! Then I can copy your outfits, assuming we both keep it. Like I said, I may freak out over the price, even though I can take it.

Whaaaat... I cannot believe that is the same jacket as the one in the link! It actually looks kinda cheap in the Nordies photo because it doesn't fit that model. But it looks even more expensive than it is on you!
