A handbag? For me? - YouLookFab Forum

So, Angie has been pressuring me into taking the plunge and buying a handbag. I've never owned one (I tote a messenger bag/brief case to work, as I bike and carry a laptop). I'm wondering about this Fossil Hanover cross-body bag. I absolutely have to have a cross-body bag, as I'm too practical to even consider anything else - I'd set it down somewhere and lose it. And I don't want it to look too conservative (so, I guess I'm *not* on team structured handbag).

What about this one for summer?

Any thoughts on color? (My pre-YLF self would only have considered black or brown, and that's probably what I'll consider for fall/winter, so I've included the photos here, but I'm thinking about color for summer). My summer wardrobe is black/white/navy/teal/coral/olive. I have never owned anything yellow in my life, so that would be way outside my comfort zone. Hence I'm leaning towards the turquoise or green.

Thoughts, ladies?!

Yay! I'm with Kappy. I think the turquoise or the kiwi color would be best for your wardrobe! Great looking crossbody bag! No brown or black for winter--I'd do a purple/plum or deep red instead. Of course, I've just barely broken free from the ranks of the bag impaired so I'll defer to pretty much anyone on Team Handbag!

Handbag impaired so I can't comment on the style, but as far as color goes I vote for the aqua or the yellow :} And I'm with Kelly, do a (dark muted) color for fall too!

great bag... I think it's semi-structured or structured though not unstructured.
I like the teal, green or YES, yellow too.
I'm starting to pick up handbags myself (currently have about 7), but I'm still team handbag impaired. But to qualify, when I get a bag, I usually get a good one (as discerned by the compliments). I like this one!

The blue bag, hands down. I have a turquoise Tignanello bag that I absolutely LOVE.
You'll be surprised how versatile the color really is.

I vote for green. I recently got a Fossil crossbody (Sutter) in purple and love it!

I vote yellow: it will be the most versatile with your colors. Green will not work with teal and navy and turquoise will not work with olive and possible with teal (depending on the hue). However yellow should work with all of your colors!
I challenge you to step out of your comfort zone and go for yellow!

Angie - I'm thinking that I will get a color for summer, and more of a neutral for winter. In fact, I was leaning towards exactly what you suggest (hooray! I love it when that happens!) - turquoise for summer and then this bag or another in cognac for fall. OK, here goes, I'm diving in!

I vote turquoise! Although if you are trying to match with lots of outfits...maybe you need two?

See how you like the size. I prefer a very small crossbody , so I can slip it into my bike bag.....Mine is red! The bright color will make you smile!
