For anyone who has time, I would really appreciate some feedback to these glasses choices. I was recently in the market for some new specs, and ended up coming home with the blue ones (photo 1), but I never feel 100% good in the shape. It feels a little serious or masculine to me? I always liked the rounder one (photo 2) and went back today to try them on again. The store also had a new pair (photo 3) that I also liked, although they are much more bold than anything I have chosen in years. My resident fashion stylist for the day, my 4 year old, told me he prefers my original broken glasses most of all. They were overall smaller with a nice curved shape and a warm tortoiseshell.

One of my big questions about the glasses is how they work with my eyebrows. Angie's guidelines state the the glasses should follow the line of the brow. Probably the first pair does that best. The second pair shows the top middle of my brow. The third pair is decidedly independent of my brow, but I just find it "fun".

Thanks for your advice.

I like the color of the old pair - perfect with your hair. I like classic shapes, so I am definitely not the right person to judge. I think Angie said the glasses shouldn't pull your expression down. I like the shape of 3. Your eyebrows in 1 are gorgeous!

I like both 2 and 3. Your 4 year old probably likes what's familiar.

2 and 3. I think you can carry these bolder shapes and colors because you have such great brows. Full disclosure - I am lifelong specs wearer, and I love tortoise patterns and big shapes. If you want to lean to more "feminine" styles than "masculine," I vote for 3.

Wow. I think your old ones (#4) are the prettiest on you! They follow your brow line the best, and when I look at the photo I see your pretty face before I see the glasses. (As a lifelong wearer of glasses, that's my gold standard.)

I agree that #1 looks a bit masculine. The other two are nice shapes, but again my personal preference is for my glasses that stay in the background. Otherwise that's my *face* there in the background!

P.S. I need new glasses. What brand are your old frames?

I can't articulate why but #3 looks very feminine on you. My favorite.

I like the rounder shapes in both #2 and #3. They are darker and more dramatic than your old glasses but you can carry them off. I prefer #3 but it seems a bit wide for your face. Could you get it in a smaller size?

I like 1 and 4 best except that in the photo your eyes don' t look centered in 1. To me 2 and 3 make your eyes look droopy in the photos.

I like your old frames on you best. I think they seem to highlight your features, whereas I think 2 and 3 seem to not quite do that; the shape and/or size of each seems to compete a bit with your eyes and browline. The first is the best of the new ones, in my view. They may be a tad wide, though--I'm seeing what Joy mentions, that your eyes may not quite be centered. That may not be a deal-breaker, though. They are really quite lovely on you, and they were my pick until I got to your old pair.

Scarlett you look lovely in all of them! The one that I like the least is #2 and the one I like the best is #4. I love how the colour of this frame works with your hair. However, glasses frames seem to be getting bigger, so #1 and #3 look more current than #4.

Thank you to all of you for the feedback. I am very grateful for your time and thoughts. I hear a lot of my own thoughts being echoed back and forth but it helps me to figure it out.

To several of your comments:

Interesting to note, the old pair used to go well with my hair, but my hair has mysteriously darkened after my second child.

Thank you for the eyebrow compliments. It’s interesting because when I was a teenager, very thin and carefully shaped brows were in fashion and I felt unforgivably hairy, hah. Thankfully I wasn’t really paying that much attention, or I surely would have waxed them out of existence.

Binkie, thanks for your perspective as a fellow lifelong specs wearer. That’s the big question I suppose, is whether I am ready for something bolder, but I appreciate the vote of confidence.

Laura G, the glasses in #4 are Chanel. They were great glasses, but over time I guess the resin dried out, so they are developing white spots. Also they have been viciously sat upon and repaired a couple of times, and just don’t sit as well as they did in the photo. I really know what you are saying about seeing the glasses first rather than the face. It is my husband’s main concern as well. I think my thing is I am in a bit of a transition phase style/life-wise and it is hard to figure out how bold I want to go with the glasses.

Joy, and Firecracker, I think actually my eyes don’t look centered just due to the angle of the photo, taken by a much taller person, but thank you for the careful looking.

Bijou, yes, the other thing about #4 is I loved them so much. They were the first glasses I felt truly good in, but they don’t feel completely current anymore.

Your old ones are pretty great. They're hip. Of the new, hands down my fave is 2. I can see your face; you look pretty. However, they're not 'power glasses.' If you are looking to rule the world, the heavier frames in 3 would be better (!!)

I like your 'old' glasses (#4) best, but of the new ones, I like #1 quite a lot and they seem a good fit.

I adore them ALL - you wear them very well!

I'm quite partial to #1 probably because they resemble my own pair of navy Oliver Peoples! BUT #2 and #3 are also excellent because they feel like an amplified version of your current Chanel pair. I think the shapes and colors are flattering on you - I recommend taking some profile and 3/4 profile pictures of yourself and reviewing those, too, so you can get a feel for what they look like from other angles.

Glasses definitely have a lifespan - whether or not they are sat upon/dropped/bent etc... not to mention an opportunity to add something new to your style.

The first ones look the most sophisticated to me, I think they suit you very well and you don't look masculine at all, in fact you have a little bit of an Amal Clooney look in them.
The second ones are less bold, more demure, and the last ones seem a little off size wise.
Children sometimes like their moms to look exactly the same all the time, it's kind of reassuring, have to say I totally get it.

I think no 1 looks great. They are a fresh contemporary look and suit you well. It always takes time to adjust to new things. That style is a classic and quite popular.

I like the shape and color of number one on you (beautiful to pull out the color of your eyes). You wear glasses well.

My only other observation is that the photo makes me wonder if they (#1) are a little wide across the temple. Hard to be sure, but worth checking out. You have good choices here.

I am so swayed by how beautifully the color of #1 brings out your eyes, that I am not sure I can be completely objective about which shape is the best. I di think the general shape of the new options is striking on you.

I like the slightly oversized glasses in 3. They are a very nice shape.
Love the colour of 1. Shape is more standard but looks good.

I have come back and looked at number 1 some more. They're very pretty. My first reaction was that, like you, they seemed heavy. But they're quite good really. The colour is nice, kicky.

Thank you to all of you for these thoughtful and kind responses. I am glad that many people like #1 because that is what I wear most of the time right now. I am leaning toward getting #2, but I will also be going back to the store soon to look again because they are getting in many new frames from the maker of the blue glasses (Götti), so I will report back on that.

JuniperGreen, I admired your glasses very much in your recent post with earrings, though I wasn’t able to comment at the time. Amplified version of my Chanels is an excellent way to put it. Good points about all the angles. I feel so silly taking photos of myself in the store Also very wise about the lifespan. So true. Hard to say goodbye to a beloved pair. I keep the Chanels for back-up.

Eliza, thank you in particular for saying I wear glasses well. It is relatively late in life that I have mostly made my peace with them. I have to say I had a very good salesperson helping me who had an unusually large assortments of options for narrow faces.
