We are on the road for a little over a week now, adventuring in our Airstream. A friend is staying at our house; the dogs are with us, and life is good. There are challenges to this new-to-is way of travel, but we are learning and adapting. Seeing amazing sights and enjoying the time together. It’s a true privilege to be able to travel in a self-contained manner during this perilous time.

Photos are coming in all mixed up and sideways for some reason. I’ll try to fix it later. These are just iPhone snapshots but you get a little taste of what we are doing.

We’ve been staying mostly at Harvest Host locations —wineries and farms that allow campers to stay for a night or two, free of charge, but they hope guests will partake of their wares. We have not disappointed anyone — we’ve stocked up on food from a farm market, beer from a brewery, and lots of wine.

Later pics are from the first national park we’ve visited on this trip, Badlands. We boondocked in an amazing spot just outside the park. Now we are heading on westward and probably north too into ND and MT/WY.

1. Inside the trailer, showing some of the decor.
2. Sunny loves being near her people, even driving.
3-4 Morning coffee and sunrise on our first morning at a Harvest Host location
5 Moon and light at a late rest stop somewhere in Illinois. We are trying to be finished driving by 3-4 pm every day but that was an exception.
6. Fall color at a HH winery in Ohio
7-9, 11 Camp at a HH dairy farm in Iowa
10, 12-14, 16-17 At a HH brewery in South Dakota
15, 18-27 Camping and exploring in Badlands.
