a few new things from the Rack... keep or return

given that it finally warmed up and we most likely still have almost 2 months left of summer, I perused the Rack section of Nordies the other day and ordered several summer things that were on deep discount.

Each of these tops were under $10... but I still need them to be flattering if I'm going to keep.

#1/2.. I love the dotty one... what about the floral one? I'm not always good about spotting matronly florals.

#3/4 not sure what I think of the side view. are the stripes dizzying?

#5/6/7.. these are too long as you see in #5, but I should be able to easily shorten them. I like the blue, what do you think of the other.. (i'ts called guava)

oh, and the shorts (#1) are also from the same order. I'm pretty sure I'm keeping them unless you all see something I'm missing.

I love #1 and #2. #2 looks beautiful with your skin tone. Not as fond of #3, but I really like #6 as it would be if shortened.

I love 1-4, but I'm not sold on the last two tops. They don't seem special enough to me.

I like the first two a lot - are they too dressy for your everyday life, your Majesty? The neckline and fit on the third top bothers me (not as flowy?), and the last ones are fine but seem like basics, nothing special.

actually Rae, I"m not necessarily looking for "special" I was actually updating my B-team capsule (stuff to wear when I'm not really going anywhere) But, I still don't want to keep anything that isn't flattering.

AG- we were posting at the same time. No, actually I like the fact that these first two are dressier looking, but something I can wear casually. As I said above, I am wanting to spiff up my B-team capsule.

Then KEEP! The others don't seem like a spiffing element the way the first two do.

#2 is my top favorite, looks beautiful! Not feeling the half-tuck here though. I like the first one a lot too. Not so crazy about the stripey ones.

I like everything but the two striped tops. The solid back and striped front don't look right together particularly from the side. Are those the Kut from the Kloth bermudas? I have those. Super comfy!

I like all of them for just kicking around. Though 1 & 2 are definitely dressier and more special of the lot.

Anne- the white bermuda's are actually Jag jeans. I tried the kut's and didn't like them as well.

the first striped top is definitely being returned. As for the other two.... I'm not trying to justify anything here, but I'm talking tops to clean house in... and they were $7 each. I still don't want frumpy, but just want you all to know my intentions for those especially. (and yes, I'd clean house in the first two as well)

QM, I agree the striped to could go back. 1 & 2 are great tops for dressing up or down. 6 and 7 are cute and it they are primarily for around the house, or general running around, with shorts or jeans I think they are fine.

I personally like 1 and 5 best. 2 is ok in style, but reminds me of my 3YO and her love of pink and purple. The notch neck on 3 is not my fave although it's slightly cooler with the solid back. 7 is fine, but again I think I lean away from anything pink so feel free to ignore my bias on that.
P.s. I am trying NOT to go to the Rack more than once a week, but I am slightly addicted especially at this time of year when they mark so much down....

Under $10 each?! KEEP them all, except 3/4. I'm all for having a good supply of casual summer tops for hot weather/bumming around the house. I'd say you scored.

for the price they are a keep. I would make sure though they are items you love not just because of the price but because of the style quotient and fitting a wardrobe need.

My faves are #1 and #2 - very pretty, flattering, and a notch above the others for style.

My next fave would be #5-6 if you really need a purchased top for cleaning around the house (vs. a demoted top). I prefer the blue to the guava on you.

Don't you love some of those Rack prices? I bring home quite a few things each trip to check out. Lots go back next trip, but I enjoy the process and the possibility of a gem

I like 1-4, not as excited about 5-7, I feel like the pale colors kind of wash you out. But if this is just your kickin' it at home capsule, I think they are a fine alternative to old tshirts.

My favorites are #1 and #5. I like #5 long as shown in this picture. Also the shorts are great.

I like everything except the top in 4. The first 2 seem dressier and love the colorful one on you. The last two seem more casual everyday type tops, but cute.

I love the #1 and #2 and #5. Not crazy about the #3-4 and #6. I especially like 2. It suits you so well!

I like 1/2 and 6/7 for knocking around kind of tops. You can't beat the price and they look way more polished than the plain knit tanks that I wear for cleaning. I'd feel pretty good wearing those for warm weather MOTG outfits too. It's great that you could run to Home Depot to pick up some caulking or something without feeling like you need to change ; )

BTW, FWIW, my kids are back in school today and I'm back on the forum!

These are perfect for what you will be using them for! Kellygirl, congrats on the kids being back at school :). My kids don't start back until after Labor Day, but they are already getting grouchy in anticipation...

I actually styled #6 for the picture perfect challenge today and it works so much better with a colored tank underneath. So, I'm going to keep 1,2,5 and 6.

And yes, Kelly, that was exactly what I was thinking, Even on days I don't leave the house, I like to feel good in what I am wearing in case I"m in the middle of making dinner and realize I need to run to the store (it's happened more than once) Plus I like to look like I have my act together when DH and the kids come home. And, you never know who might show up at the door.
