A few K/R items for your consideration....

Here are a few K/R items I'm considering:

Green cashmere sweater - It's a really great color for me, and I'm trying to buy some colors in my "soft autumn" palette, but I'm a little worried that the A-line cut isn't the most modern look. Worse, it might give off a pregnancy vibe. Hmm. Does it look ok? (DH has given it the thumbs up, but he likes anything with color!)

Nine West Panto embellished flats - I used to have a pair like this back in the 80's (bought on a trip to Paris) that I just loved. I'm thinking these might be a quick way to dress up a casual holiday party look.

Sleeveless Splendid shirt in white - This item would fill a major hole in my wardrobe. I just don't have any decent white/off-white layering tops to wear under jackets/cardigans that aren't tee-shirts. It is super wrinkly from the box, so try to look past that, but I am a little worried that wrinkling might be a problem. Also, it's really transparent, but I'm planning to wear it under other items so it might be ok.

#4-5 - Nine West flats
#7-8 - Splendid layering blouse alone (wrinkled!)
#9-12 - Splendid top styled with a kimono jacket and a cardigan

Thumbs up. The only thing is that you will probably want to layer a white cami under the Splendid top, even if you wear a jacket or cardi over it. I especially like the assymetrical hem.

I do love the color of the sweater but I also understand your concern about the A-line fit. For me it might be a deal breaker but you have longer proportions so it works pretty well. I'm not totally sure about it with a skirt - it doesn't look as long that way.

The white layering blouse is pretty but it is sheer. Will you wear a cami? I love that cobalt kimono jacket!

I love the kimono jacket too! I really like you in the cobalt, not to throw a gear in any color works.

Ok, I really go for the white top. I think the shoes will definitely serve the purpose. I'm not crazy about the sweater; I think I'd like the idea of it (color, shape) in a woven fabric; as a knit, it feels a little lifeless to me.

I am with Textstyle on the sweater. I love the colour but not sure about the fit. I love it with the pants and find it has a cool casual look but see what you mean about the ALine concern. I love the blouse on you and can see the potential.Are you ok with a cami under?

Opinions: I think the sweater works better with the skinnies than with the skirt. (The skirt meets the "slim on the bottom if the top is fuller" criterion, but the sweater seems a little too long for a skirt.)

The white top looks great on you. A practical consideration: I personally have sworn off anything that's both sleeveless and white because of deodorant staining.

I'm not entirely sure about the sweater, Nancy. I do quite like it with the skirt (somehow the A-line shape is more obvious here), not so much with the jeans. I vote keep the flats and the shirt (beautiful under that fab cobalt jacket).

These colors are all incredible on you, Nancy! I'm having a hard time seeing past the wrinkles on the blouse so I'm not sure about that one. I personally like the shape of the green sweater--I don't see any hint of a belly in any way, so no pregnancy vibe to me. The shoes are preppy and fun but I'm not sure they're dressy enough for a party.

Liked the green top with the skinny pants, not as much with the skirt.
My favorite with the white blouse was with the yellow sweater.

Adore those flats and the white blouse is great. I like the shape of the sweater but I'm not overly crazy about the colour. But I see I'm in the minority here.

I am not sold on the sweater - it looks too big and doesn't really flatter your shape (looks boxy). But I love the colour. Keep the flats - love them! I would also keep the white top. It layers well and will be very useful - you will keep looking if you return it and will probably end up buying something really similar and wish you had just hung on to Splendy!

Thanks everyone. I'm leaning toward keeping the flats and the white layering blouse since I think they'll be pretty useful.

Still not sure about the sweater. I really love the color, but the shape just doesn't make me feel fab. Plus I really want a sweater that can work with my midi skirts AND my skinnies. I'm thinking maybe I should find a good chunky sweater to do that job and send this green one back.

I think the green sweater is a bit overwhelming for you. It doesn't have enough flow to work so big on tiny you.
I like the white top, but as Joy suggested you'd need cami (nude or white)
The flats are cute, but crested velvet is soooooo 80's I don't know if I can do it. That said they are back, they look comfy and would be nice for a little holiday dress up. I just remember them with big decorated Christmas sweaters and stirrup pants.

I like the A-line sweater but with the skirt only. I don't know why, it does look a bit dated on the jeans; with the skirt, it has a totally different vibe, very relaxed but chic, very European, and I like it a lot. You would need to wear flats. And you would need to wear that sweater with skirts only, or wide non-jeans pants.

Flats: Can't judge. They are very preppy. If you like them go for it. Personally I am not a fan. But if you say you had some before and loved them, then I am sure you will find ways to rock them.

I like the Splendid top on you a lot. The cut, and the style, fit you nicely. I also like how you have styled it with the cardigans. That blue kimono cardi looks so lovely on you. I would vote keep for this shirt, since it fills a hole. The transparency issue is a bit problematic, but if you have a body hugging white or off-white cami to wear underneath, then you are good.

I would echo exactly what Krish said! Interesting that some of us like the sweater with skirt and some with skinnies. I prefer it with the skirt.

By the way, did you try the skirt out of the house with the skimming shorts and tights yet? I have not done that yet but may give it a go this weekend.

It's interesting that there's some negative reaction to the crested flats (thanks for naming them, Jeanne!). I agree that they do look exactly like the ones that were popular in the 80's....but for some reason they're appealing to me. Maybe I'm just trying to relive my youth by replacing I pair I used to own!

I do feel ok about wearing a cami under the white blouse. So far, that's the only keeper. The green sweater is starting to look like a definite return. My gut reaction when I put it on was disappointment at the shape....probably should go with that.

I agree on the sweater - it looks too big, but not in the right way. I'm kind of voting return the shirt too, just because a sleeveless shirt that requires an under-layer seems like a pain.

Nancy, if you feel unfab in the sweater, return it. Otherwise it's a closet orphan in the making (ask me how I know...).
